So far I am having decent success with the flavors I have selected for ejuice. I am pretty sure that I do not like any tobacco flavoring, but menthol is great, menthol the only type of analog I could smoke. On some of my flavors like orange creamsicle and strawberry cheesecake I want to add a little more throat hit. Would it make more sense for me to pick up PG unflavored liquid to add this or would that make the taste worse? If so would a menthol based PG work?

try adding a couple of drops of your menthol juice to the cart when you refill with your chosen flavor. Works for me. 
VG doesn't carry flavor well but gives good vapor and throat hit. PG carries flavor well but doesn't produce the best vapor. Mix accordingly.
Are you saying that with for example fruit flavored ejuices I would get more of the fruit flavor in the taste with PG based over VG based, and that if I want more of the fruit flavor to prefer ordering PG based fruit flavors?
