As i adjust my Gucci Murse, i am thinking you may want to look to someone else for a better answer, as i may be looking at this in the incorrect sense.
On the premises of working for Block Buster years back, and seeing what could happen to video tapes, and how cd's got warped when left in a hot (+30 degree weather), with windows left slightly open with little to no ventilation, i would have to say that yes it would be possible to cause damage to the batteries if not your vehicle.
Have you ever left your smart phone, or any other cell phone for that matter in your vehicle on a hot day, to come back to it and feel how blazing warm it is while being frustrated it would not work? On a smaller scale the cell phone has a "smart" chip which cuts off all power to and from the battery, as the second you turn on said phone or try to make a call on it, then you are basically sitting ground zero of the new cold fusion nuclear bomb, and i am pretty sure you will not get into heaven when St. Peter asks what was the last thing that ran through your mind and you say your own ........
Ok, bad sense of humor time over....
I may not know a lot about this whole proper charger stuff, but i do know about the science
(a bit of a contradiction i know....hence i said wait till someone knows more here) but from a chemistry point of view: Batteries use a chemical reaction to produce friction/heat. Said heat is then channeled through the nipple tops and flat bottoms
(leave the comments alone) that when placed to metal (say inside a APV) as you know can be harnessed and converted to electricity. Which in a sense allows the batteries to release the gas caused by the chemical reaction, just like taking tums after eating Uncle bills 99 alarm chilli.
I would further say that in 30+ weather, if the windows were rolled up, or you had little to know ventilation, the car then acts as a magnifying glass and you could easily see the temperature jump to +55 or +68, at which time you need to introduce a quick cooling method
(same principal of nuclear rods in water)
I know this may look like no baring to what is being said, but it could give a better visualization of what i am talking about above
A gun can fire a bullet with lethal force if stored inside a hot oven.
confirmed
The Mythbusters placed a loaded .38 caliber revolver inside a hot oven pointing towards the oven door. Once the temperature was high enough, the gun automatically discharged and sent the bullet out of the oven, which could potentially kill anybody who happened to be standing in front of the oven.
zer0ith if it seemed like i was talking down to you, or anyone else i am honestly sorry and that was not the intention, i tend to get a little long winded and professor like when it comes to a few topics i enjoy talking about
(science is one of them)
Either way i hope this helps, and i am seriously jealous you got +30, we were about +6 and there is a frost warning from what i heard on the radio
