So I just bit the bullet and jumped into the mod world...or at least I will in a month or so when Slowtech gets me my goods. Curious what other folks will think of my purchase...everything listed here is x2 because the wife's rule is that if I buy new vape toys I have to get her one as well, and happy wife = happy life.

Current: vaping on various eGo twist-style batteries with bottom-coil clearos (Protank 1, Smok pyrex Aro, EVOD mostly).

On order: Vamo V2 with Nitecore I2 Intellicharger and Sony 18650 battery (specs not provided but it's a green flattop), K100 mech, Panasonic NCR18650PD 2900mAh spare battery, 6 ml carto tanks with Smok 2.0-2.5 ohm 2 hole cartos.

I'm intending to buy some rebuildable attys from a local shop. I would have considered buying a lot more there, but when a place is charging $3 for a Kanger coil I could get from a reputable U.S. vendor for $1.25 and even less for a Chinese knockoff that it just doesn't make sense to get hosed that bad. My logic is that I'll gladly pay way too much for a rebuildable because I'm going to pick these folks' brains to teach me how to use them. I'll probably overpay for some material and juice as well, as a gesture of goodwill.

So my intention is to try out the cartos with the Vamos, and rebuildables with the K100s. I'm assuming the batteries will be interchangeable based on what device I'm trying to fire and what battery is available at that point. Any critiques of this plan are expressly invited, which is why I've got the thread up. Thanks in advance for telling me I did good or calling me a dumbass (as long as you tell me why I am one)!

Vamo V2 : I have had mine 9 months now and it is still going strong. COnsider picking up an 510/3go adaptor and leaving it on the mod at all time. That way you are screwing toppers to the adapter and not the rather fragile vamo threads.

Nitecore I2 Intellicharger : I have the i4 and love it. Good CHarger

Sony 18650 battery (specs not provided but it's a green flattop): I know nothing about htis battery

K100 mech: ROcks solid and well made. I personally find the button pressure to be a bit much but I have small hands and arthritis

Panasonic NCR18650PD 2900mAh spare battery: Good battery I have a pair I run in my vamo all the time

6 ml carto tanks with Smok 2.0-2.5 ohm 2 hole cartos: Carto tanks rock though I have never used those particular cartos in them.

If you want to try a rebuildable dripper I like to recommend an IGO-L to new builders. Large build platform and nice juice well gives you room to maneuver and a bit of overdrip protection.

Before you use your rebuildable on the K100 however do some homework on Ohms law and what is safe for your particular batteries. Baditudes blogs is a good place to start.

Fair warning: Don't depend your B&M guys to have any sort of real information on rebuildables, in my experience most of them don't know what ohms law is, why battery safety is important, what a 'c rating' is, or any other important info on rebuilding safely. I've tried to have discussions with many of them, but they seem to have the attitude that because they're behind the counter, they hold all available knowledge.

Wow, have you been to my local stores? Seems that the problem isn't unique to eastern Washington!

I recommend the Igo-w or the patriot dripping atty's. They are both almost identical in design and function. The only issue with the Igo-w is that the stock airholes are really small. some ppl are fine with the stock size, but most end up drilling them out bigger. I drilled mine out to 1/16". I have 3 igo's and 1 patriot(clone). They are super easy to work with and builing coils on them can be as simple or as elaborate as you want/need.

You can get either of these drippers online from US vendors for like 10-15 bucks.

Also i have 2 of the Kamry K101's(which is the same as the K100, just different outer tube) and they are great mechs! You'll be happy when you get them!

I agree with everything Myrany said, with one possible exception... get a "W" instead of an "L". When I first got my "L" I thought I'd never be interested in dual coils... well, that was (only) a few months ago, and now I'm interested in dual coils.

BTW, lately I seen the Igo-W3 (and even a W4 on FT)... I think it has either more air holes or air hole adjustments. IMO, research it and get one of those.

So since no one said it, I will.

I'm not saying it's 100% guaranteed, but prepare for having your order refused and refunded.

Customs does NOT like batteries. They will most likely ship them back to FastTech and then they will refund your order. There have been a lot of posts about not ordering Batteries from overseas.

I really do hope it does not happen to you, but just prepare yourself just in case.

My last FastTech order was on January 4th. It was just for a Vamo V5 and a Charger, and it arrived at my door on January 17th. Was not bad at all for shipping from China.

Thanks all for the responses!

Is there a reason I'd want to go with a rebuildable dripper versus one with a tank?

For those who have mentioned it, I've definitely got a lot more homework to do on building (or since I'm lazy and too fat-fingered to deal with anything that tiny maybe getting some pre-built coils) - but I've got some time. From what I understand FT now ships batteries through Singapore Post rather than HK Post because they'll get through that way - I did have one order in the past go through Singapore and it took over a month rather than the couple weeks I'm used to, so I'm prepared for a forever wait (and a lot more time reading Baditude, guy has some great stuff and his carto posts are why I'm trying the carto tank route).

I'm well aware and wary of the B&M clowns out there that I end up educating as a lowly Ego twist user, but the folks at a new shop that just opened in OB seem to be a cut above what I'm used to - and one of them let the wife and I try her mech with a dual coil dripper that pretty much instantly made wifey want to become a cloud chaser. Oh yeah, and they're selling $20 gift certs for $10 on a promotion - bought one for myself and one as a gift for the wife, she did the same, so we can buy some stuff at an almost-competitive price.

Thanks again, lots more questions but I'm sure they could all be answered with "Use the Search button, noob!" so I'm going to save the trouble and just go do that...
