First of all, thank you all for the information. I have been lurking for about a month and have learned more than I thought possible.

Just wanted to gather some thoughts on my situation. I was about 1/2 to 3/4 PAD smoker for the past year. Before that I had been smoke free for about 3 years but before that I was at about 1/2 PAD for my four(maybe five!) years in college.

I felt myself going down a difficult road as the first time I was able to quit was fairly wasy, but this time around I was really struggling. I picked up an njoy King about a month ago on a whim and have not had an analog since. Though it seems I was not as heavy a smoker as others on here, I really beleive vaping saved me from going down the "smoking road" once again.

I still get urges to smoke but after a few vapes it compeltelly goes away. Do you think I smoked "enough" to warrant vaping? Might be a silly question but, in my mind, it has really saved me! Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks very much.

I know someone who smoked under half a pack per day and could go a few days without but now thoroughly enjoys vaping. It doesnt matter how much you smoke or used to smoke, the fact that you are here and considering vaping as an option shows that you want to change your previous unhealthy habit and vaping is the way that you have concluded will help you do this.

Not silly at all to my mind. If it's helped you, it's worth it. Since there's a learning curve involved in vaping, you might find yourself trying different equipment. I fell for the "free online trial" scam a year ago, and the crappy little e-cig I got was a very poor substitute that had us back on analogs in no time. This time I did a little research online first, and then went to a new B&M that opened up not far from me. I bought my wife and me a couple Joye batteries with refillable cartomizers. I guess these are what's called mods? They look cool, didn't cost too much (about $40 each), and most important, our tobacco cravings disappeared instantly. That's a win-win, any way you look at it. Vape on!

I started smoking during my 4+ years in college as well, although never more than 5 or so analogs/day. After graduating I quit for a few months but started up again and went to a 1/2 PAD smoker for the next 5 years. A year ago, I started dabbling in e-cigarettes but didn't find the convenience store type to work for me. However, since purchasing an Ego variable voltage in November, my smoking has greatly decreased and I have nearly quit entirely! So to answer your question, if you felt you were heading down the wrong path and couldn't quit smoking analogs, you are a prime candidate for vaping!

Don't give up on quitting altogether. Try to keep your nicotine level low. Perhaps after you feel you're over the analogs you can work on walking away from e-cigs too. Most do that by lowering the nicotine in the liquids bought from vendors. It does not sound like you were a hardcore smoker so don't become a hardcore vaper.

The cigalikes satisfy some people...

I was doing alright on the gum, but my wife was hitting the cigalike hard (cigalike - I like that word!), and she kept saying she felt like she wasn't really quitting. Plus I'd catch her tapping the end on an ashtray to get rid of a nonexistent ash. Psychologically, it doesn't make sense to me to substitute something that looks exactly like a cig if you're trying to quit. That was what led me to search out something that looked different. I'm so glad I did! Compared to the crappy little "free trial" ripoff, our mods deliver a good, satisfying hit. Our cravings disappeared immediately, and the cool-looking PV is both a conversation-starter and a total switch away from analogs.

Isn't it wonderful that we have alternatives. I love the fact that we can use a variety. For me, I use the NJOY King ( a remarkable improvement on their prior offerings) on occaision but I do like my eGo C2 upgrade so I can experiment with all the great flavours. Currently loving "Bobas Bounty from Alien Vision"' the nicest tobacco flavour I've found to date.

I got this emailed to me and I encourage everyone to share their experience so that these choices don't get eliminated or severely restricted by the FDA!
You can be totally new, it's just your experience!
