So... This might be pointless but I want to tinker. I've got a smoke relief Ecig, comes with 2 batteries and uses cartomizers. I know the battery isn't sealed so I've been told to "not refil" the cartos due to risk of damaging the battery when stuff leaks into it.

However.. I have a couple riva 510 batteries and various doodads on the way and when they show up I'm thinking about tinkering around with my smoke relief. It has a PCC which is something I enjoy having though I hear the 750mAh 510s last a good long while so having a PCC might not be that big a deal if I just carry both batteries fully charged.

anyway,

What I'd like to do is improve the smoke relief. I'm curious about what I should do to perhaps seal the battery so it's not at risk if I start refilling cartos and if I'd be safe just pulling the filler material out of the cartos and replacing it with any of the various materials on this forum. I've got 15 cartos for this set up so I was thinking about modifying a couple of them into something that could take a direct drip as well as fiddling with the battery to make a new form factor. I'm going to try to make a little pipe.

What I'd really like is to have a pipe form factor where the atty is in the bowl of hte pipe and I can drip into the bowl. The generic pipes I've seen out there seem to have basically an E-cig in the stem with the battery being in the bowl. That makes sense for a bigger system since you can put a good battery in there but being able to drip into the bowl would be neat imo :p

Any ideas? I might post this on the mods forum as well if it doesn't get me in trouble :p

I don't think there would be any way of sealing the battery. It's designed with a vacuum so that it will be activated by the user sucking on it. If you block that hole, you won't be able to activate it anymore. As for the cartos, I know that some people have been able to pull the filler out and use them for dripping or to clean the material, but this is a very delicate process. If you break the wires that connect to the coil, you'll ruin the carto.

I would suggest just waiting until your new kit arrives. You CAN refill the cartos on your Smoke Relief, but you'll have to be very careful not to overfill. If juice starts to leak out of the threaded end just dob it or blow it out a little until it stops before using it on your battery.

I know very little about any tinkering so far but I know that sealing an automatic battery would let you fill the cartos while attached without problems from leaks but then the battery wouldn't fire on inhalation. Pulling the filler and replacing has been mentioned a lot on this forum and out of curiosity I tried it, fluval (from pet shops) worked much better than the stock filler and is extremely cheap to buy.

Can't help with pipes, i've seen a couple of drool-worthy ones in the modders forum but I'm too new to vaping to attempt to even understand them!

Ok, you guys touched on one of my big questions... where is the auto switch. I see the whole in the center of my battery and there are intakes at the tip. (I can put the thing in my mouth backwards and blow a shotgun just like an analog) if i can find that switch and it's wiring I can probably relocate the airflow portion somewhere safe so that it wouldn't open a pathway from the juicey spot to the zappy spot :p

I'm not going to start taking this apart untiL I have my new toy in hand and working but I'm tryin to get ahead of the curve by doing some research. I do have a little ghetto Randy's ecig that I might tinker with now though to get the concepts down.

there seems to be a lot of focus on the threads of the fitting. From what I've read the outside (threaded part) of the atomizer is generally the negative and the center of the atomizer is positive. All I'd really have to be able to do even without the threading is make a solid connection to the atomizer on the outside and inside. If I could work a bracket of some sort with a spring connector for the positive side that touches the atomizer I could stil activate it by pushign power.

Thinking atomizer in bowl and battery in the stem. Re-route the auto switch so it's under the atty in the bowl but doesn't pass through the battery connection. Run wires to a separate connector for the atty in the bowl which would sit, wick side down inside the bowl so I could drip into a resevoir that would then be wicked up into the atty. Just have to figure out how to seal the airflow so I suck through the bowl, through the atty, through the stem and into mah lungs.

You cannot seal the battery. You have auto batteries right? They will not trigger without the drag switch.

Have you determined whether Smoke Relief is 510 threading or not? It is a female battery and male carto? If it is not 510 threading then it may be RN4081 threading (or it could be the evil matches nothing but looks like RN4081 rebrander model, and if 510 it could be the &^%*&(* reverse polarity clone 510 that fries real 510 batteries in its charger). If you want to buy manual RN4081 batteries (should be fully sealed) - see AZSMokeFree.com. For manual 510 batteries (definitely fully sealed), see LiteCigUSA.net (and the the long mega xl ones are particularly nice with 60-70% more charge). For a variety of Ecig parts, see Madvapes.com. You may also enjoy their mod-building forum http://www.madvapemods.com/
And ECF has a battery mods section

Here some guy took apart another model of auto battery to fix the drag switch. Maybe with this you could figure out how to remove the drag switch and add a manual pushbutton. Then you could seal the battery end as long as it still provides airflow to the threaded end hole of the carto.

OK - done editing/adding as far as I know

Have fun! Lotta tinkerers here.

I would forget tinkering with that battery if you want to keep using it once your Riva arrives(which I seriously doubt) then just use it as designed until it dies. You can refill cartos that are used with auto batteries, I and others do it all the time and it had to have juice in it to begin with so refilling should be no different if you don't over do it. Just be very careful you don't have excess juice in the carto after the fill. Blow on one end of the carto after filling to get the excess out. Once it's out wipe the threads down and it should be ready to go.

thanks for the links guys :)
I'm thinking if I can't relocate the auto switch I'll just remove it and replace it with a manual switch for my tinkering purposes. As for the Smoke Relief it's a female and the cartos are male. I've got two others, a little cheapo "royal smoke" and a little cheapo "Randy's" The randys is a three part and I have two batteries and a charger and stuff so I can use that to start playin around I think.
