Your memory is better than mine. I didn’t even remember they take flat tops. You’re correct about how careful they were but that’s what made them so great. Essentially indestructible and their machining - butter is rough compared to their craftsmanship and how smooth their end caps are. Simply amazing stuff.

I vaguely remember some upgrade program they had - was that for the provari classics? Or maybe I’m just completely mistaken.

I know they did a P3 upgrade thingie (I forget the wattage numbers, maybe 20w to 30w?), and THOUGHT they offered it for the Radius too, but I trust GG's memory better than my own, so...

I think that was it, but again, I'm not 100% certain of it (or ANYTHING).

If memory serves me correctly, the 60 watts on a radius was only available with a dedicated chip and all firmware updates were intended to add features or alter the menu system. The p3 had an update that allowed for .5ohm coils vs the stock .7ohm capability but did not increase the available power however it was not user upgradable and had to be sent in or taken to a certified vendor.

I think the upgrades were mostly for the P3, where they would tweak the menu, etc. There was that final CC (coill control) flash where they were trying to do sort of a temp control. That's what the updater module their dealers had was for.

But come to think of it, maybe there were upgrades to the Radius. I remember clearly that they added the charging light feature after so many customers asked for it. Originally, you just plugged into the usb and checked the display from time to time. But the update lit the power switch while charging, and then went out when the cycle was complete. My first Radius did not have that feature but I remember getting it - and I sure didn't travel the 150 miles to my nearest dealer.

So, please disregard my "99% sure" statement in my previous message. :D
