So who decided that if it's disposable it can't be a APV? Also while we're taking about naming conventions, does anyone else think the term "mod" is really silly when taking about a manufactured device? After all isn't mod short for modification? I know early on they were modified flashlights, but the term doesn't seem to fit for manufactured PVs.

The names mod and APV both date back to the early days of vaping (which wasn't that long ago). A mod is a modified e-cig. Innovating vapers came up with tube mods which were built into pipes and box mods, which were built into, well, boxes. From there we have mechanical mods which feature no electronics but may have electrical components like a power switch. Some of the wise elder ECF vapers came up with the idea of calling the more sophisticated electronic mods APVs (Advanced Personal Vaporizers). It was also decided that part of the mod and APV definition included replaceable batteries as the devices were intended to provide service longer than the lifespan of the battery. The battery industry typically states that Li-ion batteries as a group have a lifespan of about 300 charge cycles, disposable or not. In the real world of vaping li-ion batteries usually do not last that long.

Alright, any other PVs that are comparable to the mvp that isn't just a VV eGo battery (twist, spinner, etc).

Don't discount the Ego just yet. The Ego V V3 is a 1300 mah battery with VV and VW and is serving me perfectly well at the moment. Much, much better than a twist or a spinner.

...and that was my point about the term mod, it doesn't seem to fit for factory made devices. There's nothing being MOD-ified. I can, kind of, go along with it with mechanical PVs, because these are more of the direct descendents of the early mods, but with factory made electronic VV/VW devices it seems kind of silly.

Anyway, sorry for the highjack.

I made this point when I first got into vaping I couldn't understand what 'mod' had to do with anything. The only thing that ever seems to be modded is coils and wicks but it's an early term which seems to have just stuck around forever even though it's completely meaningless. It's there, we're here, it's still there, the world goes round and round, the end. etc.

Mech is kind of weird as well. A big metal tube with a battery inside it and a button. It's not going to win any design awards for amazing mechanical construction of the year, ever. But what do we know? Nothing I tells ya, nothing!

The Innokin iTaste VV (V3) is one. It is an 800mah battery. If you like the ego style batteries over the box type, it might do ya. 101vapes.com has it for $26. I just ordered one because my ego twist is starting to act a little weird and I can't carry the mvp around with me at work (out of room in the front pockets lol) It has all the features of the MVP2.

As I understand it, a "mod" is any device that is NOT a cig-a-like type of device. Since cigalikes were really the first "main stream" style of e-cig, anything that wasn't a cigalike was considered a mod, back in the day they were usually home made. Then along came the factory "mods" like the eGo style batteries. Now there are different kinds of mods, mechanical mods, VV mods, VW mods, VV/VW mods, Hybrid mods, etc.
