My wife (Mom) & I were at the Hard Rock Cafe in New Orleans this past weekend.... Place was rockin and we were both vaping pretty heavy when I noticed a woman sitting across from us started staring at my wife vaping..... My wife would pull out her Ego-T once every few minutes and give it a few vapes and place it back in her purse.... I stopped vaping once I realized we were being watched.... The woman across from us told her friend with her what was going on and I notice they were both locked on my wife waiting for her to vape again......

My wife pulled here Ego out again and I told her as best I could(Music was real loud) Not to vape as we were being watched.... She complied as I asked and there was no further problem.... Once they left the PV's came out again with no problem.....

Moral of the story,,,,, Know whats going around you while vaping!!!!

I on the other hand vape freely, and hope people watch. If it encourages someone to ask me about them, #winning! I have never had someone ask me to stop doing it though. Typically people will either just stare all night, or eventually ask me about it, and I get to share the gospel of vaping with them. I keep cards in my wallet and hand them out like christian tracts.

Yep. One of those British wanna be pubs near our place. I took the whole family to dinner, had to wait for a table. So I wait @ the bar. I have ben there before and they had told me it was ok to vape. Regardless, I asked the bar tender and he said yes. Plus in Va it does not violate any law. So at dinner, I am vaping my SD freely and across from me an older lady was staring and was very intent on what I was doing. Our waitress came over after a while and asked me if I was vaping. I told her yes, she was OK with it, but one of the customers complained... I knew which of course. I asked her if I needed to stop, nope... she said she would explain it to the other customer. So I blew smoke rings :) OK... just a few.

That is exactly what I also do markingold!
I refuse to vape stealthily as if I was doing something wrong.
People always come over with questions to ask or they say "Is that one o' them electric cigarettes"?
To which I hand out cards for COV and let them know about the benefits of "vaping"!
I have never been asked to stop vaping except by one "nurses aide" who claimed
it made her cough even though every time I had been in an enclosed room with her it had absolutely no effect.
This happened when she thought she would get in trouble from my doctor for me releasing
the vape in a hallway.
My doctor is an advocate in this clinic for vaping, so she was obviously misinformed.
I vaped from the time I got to the hospital until I woke up in recovery, and I continued on without a problem after my surgery and I was in there for a week!
I never had one single complaint from the doctors, nurses or the hospital employees
at Tufts N.E.M.C.!
They all thought it was great and infinitely better than smoking!
Yay Tufts!

I "Clearly" understand what you are saying!!!!! However it still looks like "smoke" and we know how the the NS community can cause a stink when they see what they assume is smoke!!!!! My wife seems to have no problem with vaping anywhere!!! Me I'm a little more cautious as to not get kicked out for just vaping.....
Is this the wrong way to approach this???? I really don't know..... I seem to vape everywhere else (Stealth) with no issues... I don't bellow out clouds of vape just to make a point.... Just the way I feel about it.....

Good Vapes~~~~~~

I feel as though if I am going to get kicked out of a place for doing nothing more than vaping that I need to spend my money elsewhere anyway. Sad that Americans are so keen to whine and cry to get their way (I am an American by the way). My wife thinks that I tend to make a scene, when I feel that people crying to get their way are the ones making a scene.

I have never had an issue anywhere I have vaped, airports, hospitals, restaurants, and even an American Cancer Society charity event last summer. I don't push it on people or if someone I care about asks me to blow the vape a little less in their direction, I honor their wishes, but mostly I have never had a problem with even that. We have a weekly poker gathering where all the others there are non-smokers, some ex-smokers, and none of them have a problem with me vaping at the table or in their non-smoking homes. I have always asked their permission in their homes and have never been asked not to, in fact they have been very supportive.

As for fearing being asked to leave a public restaurant or simliar place, if vaping would get me "kicked out", I think I too would prefer to spend my money somewhere else. Especially if I am not being offensively obnoxious about it.

Recently my county went smoke free - but no mention of e-cigs or vaping. A local wanna be English Pub is planing on selling disposable e-cigs - which I introduced them to a couple of months ago. One of the manager's in my neighbor ;-)

Unfortunately the current state wide legislation proposale does include vaping in it's ban - so I've been working to contact my legislatures to talk about the difference in vaping vs smoking in relation to second hand anything/smoke etc. I did get a call back from one - but wasn't home! grrrr

Again,,,,, ALL very good points stated here!!! I should add I am most likely this way because of vaping on Planes.... I know first hand what the TSA can and will do if you go out of bounds on anything that may pose a danger to the public on planes..... We have vaped in Airports, Planes, Restaurants, Bars, House of Blues here in Orlando, as well as many other places too many to name..... Just wanted to let my fellow vapors know NOT all people are on board with vaping and could make a stink about something they don't know or understand.....

I've noticed a few subject topics here on ECF asking "Where is it OK TO VAPE in 'X'(fill in your town)?" My reply back is always "Where is it not, so I can avoid giving the establishment my business? It's NOT ILLEGAL !"
2 of the posts were Chicago and Chicago Burb related. It was like I had to quell their fears of getting busted. Now I realize a few areas have outlawed e-cigs, but none of the postings were in those areas.

We have, as smokers (or x smokers) been stepped on, kicked out in the cold, and been taxed to oblivion for so long, some of us live in fear about it. Or so it appears.
I'm quite open about it, and vape nearly everywhere, but do so in stealth around children. If an establishment decides to tell me I cannot vape, my first reaction is to talk directly to the owner, not a flunky manager who might have his own attitude and agenda. I want the owner to realize he/she will be losing my business and it will be talked around. I'm never rude, or loud, but I am direct and to the point, and do so with a smile as well as armed with information.

So far, so good

The fight is on

I work for an airline and our aircraft there is no smoking or vaping allowed, period... wish there were but no joy.. also it is a fine and a possible visit with an LEO when you get to your destination

It's NOT ILLEGAL !

Yes you are correct.... Its not illegal,,,,, Its not accepted!!!! Is my point..... Vape on a plane and see what happens.... Some guy or gal all of a sudden states out loud "I smell something burning or I smell smoke".... Then get up and walk off the plane @30K feet.... Don't blaze a trail on my behalf!!!!

I've noticed MOST people are simply curious. Its a guess, but I bet they were staring at her bc they've never seen one and was interested! Alot of people that don't know about them think they smell and linger smoke like a cigarette. They're usually pleasantly surprised when they learn differently!

I woulda kept vaping. Screw 'em. If they ask me to stop, I'll stop. But if I'm not breaking any indoor laws, I'm blowing clouds baby.

I've vaped in the local wal-mart store where wal-mart has banned it nationwide. I've not been told to leave and I do it openly. I have at least one person per visit ask me about it. Depending on their tone of voice is how I react. If they are sincerely wanting to know, I will tell them about it. If they act like a jerk, I act like I have mental issues and it's my medicine...I love the look on their faces.

I would say to the OP, your wife was being stared at simply because their wasn't a coal on the end of what she was vaping (ecig). The first time I saw a vaper at work, I kept seeing a blue light and finally had to ask what he was doing. Then my whole world changed for the better.
