I vape openly and don't make big attempts to hide it. I've never been asked to stop, but of course I would if I were asked. I do follow common (to me) courtesys; I don't vape in front of children and I ask permission before vaping in someones home or car.

Same here lynlee...I always ask unless I'm in walmart...I hate that store but it's the only place in town to shop unless I want to drive another 60 miles.

I vape openly everywhere I go. I feel self-conscious about it sometimes, but feel it's my duty to get vaping out there. If I can get even one smoker interested in vaping that otherwise wouldn't have learned about it, I see it as a life saved, and if I have to take some flack to accomplish this, then so be it.

So far I've encountered absolutely no resistance to this approach, but I'm pretty diplomatic, and fairly good at explaining things clearly. I keep an informative e-mail loaded in my phone that I can send at a moments notice to anyone that shows interest or has questions. I quite enjoy being an ambassador.

I will vape without asking anywhere outside i will ussually check with the person/bartender/store people before i do it in there most of the time they dont knwo what it is and thats the issue they think your smoking SOMETHING that is WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE dont be arrogant and have a "do what i want" attitude yes its just vapor but alot of places i go to (bars etc) its not my place its common respect for me to say "hey mind if i use my vaperizer "

Never a need to get offensive with folks but at the same time, I am not going to get shoved back into the category of "smoker status" without raising a few fits about it. Especially with political entities.
After being shoved outside in the cold Chicago winters under a friggin tent like some kind of outcast, and stared at by the non-smokers in the bars and restaurants wondering why I would suffer, AND in the entire process being taxed into oblivion (at a rate of 10x the price of the original product) , I'll put my foot down this time. I don't like my personal rights being stomped on and ground into the dirt like a cig .... being put out.

I'm quite respectful in public places and do vape without asking (generally). Most places I do so, I frequent and frequented often in the past. They recognize me and don't bother me. Instead I get a lot of curious waitresses and good questions. Rarely a foul stare, and I could care less anyways. I always am willing to discuss what I am using and rarely vape in front of children, at least openly.
So I give respect but also ask for it in return, and am making it known when asked what we have here. If the public doesn't get informed, it's just another downside we have to fight against when the FDA gets nasty with us again. Get em informed and behind this as best possible. We may need their support in the future.

I get the same fairly often but what I do usually is just tell the person what I am doing or just keep vaping. A lot of the strange looks is generally just ignorance of the product so people get curious I guess. Once you inform the person that you are vaping and what that actually means then generally there are quite a few people who will ask where to get one for themselves!
