I'm a sooper noob here, wanting to finally post something after months and months of lurking the forum...

I smoked cigarettes for a bit over 8 years, never wanting to really quit 'til about the last two when I saw how stigmatized it is, especially in a corporate setting. I'd been contemplating the idea of getting a PV for months before I developed pneumonia last month; I'd woken up from my light sleep and literally couldn't breathe. It felt so horrible, almost like I would imagine emphysema feels like, that I decided right then and there to dive in and get my e-cig.

Jump to now, I have a KR808 kit that has kept me analog free since 5/21/11. I'm in love with my little portable "hooka-esque" device that I'm finding myself going ......ed over it like it were a dude. I read the forums all day long looking for ways to make it even better.

The only complaint I think I would have is probably the carto's. I'm thinking of my next purchase being an adapter and playing my hand at some atty's and seeing if I get more flavor that way. What I'm going after is eventually weaning off the nicotine, at least to a 6mg so I taste more flavor than nic, and getting as much flavor out of my little machine as humanly (or technologically) possible.

I don't want to stop buying carto's all together because I love how convenient they are but I've noticed in the forums there are a lot of you who say carto's dull out the flavor, so I'm gonna keep a few blister packs of blanks for the kit (possibly LR jumbo cartos from nhaler, and/or LR Mega Cartos from them as well). Or should I get the dual coiled ones? I don't know if I can even use these on my kit, there's so much talk of voltage and ohm and it's all ancient greek to me.

I know, at least, the majority of getting the best out of this experience will come from my own trial and error because only I know what I want, but suggestions are so incredibly welcome, from veterans AND noobs. So what do you think? What were your experiences?

Thanks a lot for reading this 6,000 page novel and for all your contributions, guys!)

Hey! Welcome to the world of vaping and ECF! Congrats on nixing the analogs AND the 30 day mark! I'm excited to hit mine!

Have you tried ejuice yet? You will be hooked. Might try filling your own cartos..it just further enhanced the vaping experience for me! I'll let the other vets come and answer your technical questions - I just wanted to say hello to a fellow obsessed vapor! :vapor:

:vapor: LOL!! yeah I think I'll start and end each post with a smokie guy instead of quotes! lol cute...

Thanks for the welcome!! You're approaching your 30 day mark too!? YaY to being analog free!!! I'll tell you, I haven't felt tempted to have a cigarette until two days ago. (because my father keeps his reds boxes all over the house and my cartos were acting up, i just didn't know I needed to give them a break and break in a new one)

yeah I have!!! I think the e-juice was the most exciting part of the whole vaping experience for me. I've bought from Strictly E-juice which gives you a lot for your money, but I've found the flavors I purchased to be too similar tasting. I've also bought from Ms. T's bakery at the suggestion of a ton of more experienced vapers on here (they were suggesting on another thread to someone else... remember, I have a tendency to lurk, lol) and her juices are AWESOME!!! Like FAMAZING awesome. I love her. The only thing I'd have to say about her juices is that they're a bit expensive so unfortunately I won't be able to make her my sole vendor. I'm looking to buy from kick bass vapor cause i hear they're great and they give you twice as much for about the same price, so yeah. I'll tell you about Ms. T's if you haven't tried her juices, again, they're amazing. My favorites are Tangerine and Lemonade. I want to try her snickerdoodle cause everyone's panties are in a sooper (good) bunch because it's so good. Also wanna try marshmallow, and some baked noms.

I don't think the juices are the issue, i just think i might be outgrowing the cartos. I literally want to taste the juice air in my mouth. Slowly building up my laBHOratory and can't wait. Gimme a year and I'll have a tackle kit full of juice and old cartos and atomizers. I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be smoking out of one of those mods the size of an 18wheeler tailpipe by the end of the year too...

Wait til you drip. It'll knock your socks off! And try Tasty Vapor- cheap, and their bakery flavors are soooo flavorful. Like, seriously yummy. I love the Vanilla Cheesecake (they let you pick your own combo of their flavorings too- both of these are their semi-custom flavors) and a Vanilla Cupcake Lemonade especially. So dang good!

If you love dripping, then next step is a bottom feeder- that's what I ended up doing anyway. A Reo Mini. I've snuggled with it in bed, lol. This morning I woke up with it on my pillow, rather embarrassing- I was vaping in bed & reading, and fell asleep with it, haha. Oops.

I am sort of the opposite of you, I started out with my starter kit and cart/attys, and quickly discarded that whole 'scene' for much preferred cartomizers.

I know there's lots of us here who fly both directions, my problem with attys and carts was getting juice all over my hands, lips, equipment, it just seemed to get all over the place using that method and I found it very irritating, along with the smell and taste of burnt attys (gross) ...maybe your experience will be different. For me, the cartomizers are very clean and neat and offer me great versatility that I can take several with me a day and enjoy whichever flavor I choose.

I will also say that when I just started, my taste buds simply were down for the count for awhile, there wasn't anything wrong with my equipment (once I started using cartos anyway ), it just took TIME and some patience to wait for the buds to start to re-appear, switching up equipment to me is sort of like throwing money at a problem that will soon enough just take care of itself.

I did, however, order some e-juice in 2x flavor to help out in the meanwhile.

Now, the 2x is tasting extremely strong, good news!

Welcome and congratulations!

Here's how I roll these days, a portable carto carrier.

The "Low Resistance" and dual coil cartomizers are great because they draw more power from the battery to produce more vapor. The problem, of course, is that the small batteries that look like cigarettes usually can't keep up--at least not for long. I definitely recommend trying low resistance or high voltage and I am absolutely loving the dual coil cartomizers, but if you don't already have one you should probably look into getting an eGo/Riva/Hello016, so called "fat batt", style batteries or kits. Some of these even have a USB charging port so you can use it like a "passthru" for a consistently strong vape that is constantly charged and ready to go with you. Right now I'm vaping Nhaler's Octane Signature Tobacco (I don't usually care for tobacco flavors, but I love this one) on a brand new dual coil cartomizer on my Inferno (a rebranded "eGo" from volcanoecigs.com) and it is absolutely fantastic. :D

Hello and welcome.

Daily I use a T-Rex, a Tornado-T minus the T (I use cartomizers on it and not the tanks), and a Steampunk Sparkplug @ 3.7V (occasionally at 6V but that's a little too hot for my taste.)

I use cartomizers exclusively. I have some atomizers I received with various kits I will use for emergencies. If my cartomizers all die at once.

:)

Whatever you find that works for you is great. You are an ex-smoker. Congratulations.

Howdy & Welcome...I'm a noob myself but I had to laugh at your post. Im almost as compulsive with mine as well. I have 3 big batts always at the ready and an e-go t for my truck. I've tried a bunch of different e-juices but have found a couple of my all day go-to's. I'm trying to get into a few other flavors that I'm hoping will taste a little better with age? Anyway...just wanted to say hey :)

Good for you on going off analogs. I am completely obsessed with vaping, all ways, dripping, carts, dual coil, tanks, 3.7V VV 6V 5V etc...have a small army of mods and accessories which can be seen in my albums on my profile here at ECF. I always say thats it..I am not buying anymore...but then a new tank will come out..or a triple coil cart, and there I go pulling out the credit card...I just booked rooms in Richmond VA for Vapercon 2011 in October..cant help myself...LOL

Don't use dual coils on the small batteries. Also, if you have automatic batteries, dripping can be dangerous. If you get juice down inside and on to the sensor, death is the result. Vapor4Life carries pre-filled and blank kr808d-1 cartos. The pre-filled, though more expensive, are pretty tasty. Their blanks are nice and will last a long time.

Grats on taking the plunge! :D Okay, is your 808 a manual (push button) or automatic battery?

If it's a manual you can try dripping by just buying a 901 atomizer. They screw right on to an 808 connection. Drip 3 drops of juice directly down into the atomizer and fire away.

If it's an automatic, you'll probably be better off buying some juice and topping off your cartomizers is probably the best way. As hairball pointed out, an atomizer can leak a little juice sometimes and that would wreck an automatic battery.

Finally, find the right juice and don't worry too much about carto or atty dripping. KR-808D style batteries made now-a-days are packed with flavor and vaper. The folks telling you otherwise haven't tried one in awhile. :) Direct dripping on an atty is definitely different. And so is vaping at a different voltage. But it's not necessarily better.

Aw, hell with it. Go shopping and try some stuff. That's part of the fun.

And yes, Ms. T's is awesome. Snickerdoodle is a must try. But look over her beverage flavors, too. Mountain Pop is wicked.

Good luck!

Wow, you guys are pretty awesome!
:vapor:ok, so...

Apocalypse*Meow,

OMG tell me about it! I bought a drip tip with some cartomizers and clearomizers from nhaler and whoa... amazing what a bit extra distance between the tailpipe and your lips makes! i'm buying several more drip tips because it's like once you drip, you can't quit. (baby, im like cheddar, CHEEZEEEE)

I'd heard of tasty vapor too, thing is i've heard about so many and it's all so incredibly overwhelming when you start out. Ok, if what I'm looking at right now (their website and an oz to ml converter on google) is accurate, then I think my search is over. I'm going to them, a one oz bottle of their flavors of the week is 10.50... 1oz is a little over 29ml... every other vendor sells in mililiters... O M G. Tasty Vapor it IZ! Thanks for reminding me of them, forced me to take a second look :D

BTW, can you chain vape with the Reo mini? it looks awesome that you can hook up a bottle of ejuice and not have to fuss much more than pressing the button... I favorite-ed the page for future reference. It's looking better and better to me the more I look at it. So does it end up being 6volts? dunno...

Drak,

Thank you for the welcome!
I love the convenience of the cartomizers! I have a tendency to over fill them though and get some juice seepage but besides that, yeah, you're right, they're pretty convenient. You think maybe 510 cartomizers with an adapter would work better than an 808 carto?

I do think a major reason for my not being able to fully taste all the juice is because my tastebuds haven't fully regained consciousness, if you will. I'm hoping they come back soon. I really, really do. How long did it take your tastebuds to come back? I'm going to try that 2x flavor request this time and see what happens.

Your carto carrier is so cool, where'd you get it?

'scuse me :vapor::vapor:

Thilium,

I hadn't mentioned it in my initial post but, I have been toying with the idea of moving up to the ego or, fat batt models as you've educated me on lol. As I have it understood, and correct me if I'm wrong, the more power behind your PV, the more TH, vapor, and flavor you get. True? False? je ne sais pas, let me know. The thing is there're so many options to choose from! If I do end up going for a fat batt model, I'm pretty positive it'll be the Ego. I just looked at the website you referred me to, and it's a pretty sweet deal on the package they're selling the Inferno with. I think you might very well be right, if it's not my tastebuds, I'm probably already outgrowing the KR and need something more powerful. The Ego and some cartos might be the way to go, or should I just go with the Reo mini mod? Either way, thanks for telling me about not using the dual coil on my battery, would've been a really bad idea...
:vapor:

Phonedude,

Heyy! Yeah, I am an ex-smoker & it's freaking fantastic, thank you :)
Whoah, you use a lot of models! (whispers to self "one day, okie... one day...) So I'm getting the feeling from all the feedback that my carto's might not be the issue, I'm just not getting enough power and the Ego or an Ego type model might be a good move. Why don't you use the tanks? Is it messier? After all my reading I don't understand the tank deal. I know it holds more liquid, why have you chosen not to use it?

:vapor:

Rottwyler,

Hey, thanks for stopping by to say "Hey" lol Glad my questionably unhealthy obsession with my little vapor stick managed to amuse you! I'm even more glad that I'm seeing I'm in good company here. I've found myself only recently, within the past week, really excited to tell everyone I know (friends, acquaintances, coworkers I barely know) that I've quit smoking and found the coolest little toy that lets me smoke their food and not get any fatter. No one seems to share my excitement... :(
Though I hate feeling powerless and ignorant in this new adventure, I love that it almost feels like the ooey gooey yumminess you feel when you start falling in love with someone... Like I want to introduce it to all my friends. So weird, but yeah... I hope if anyone understands it's the ex-smokers on here, 'cause I'm finding this experience so liberating! Beautiful avatar, btw.
:)
:vapor:

studio 52!

yeah that's what I'll be real soon! It's so difficult not to get caught up in this madness that is the e cig world. So many options for mods, a different vape for any mood, any flavor you could conceive of, ugh... I haven't even grazed the tip of the iceberg and I don't know where to go next, but I know whichever I choose I'll be "... movin' on Uup!" lol
:vapor:

hairball!

Duly noted, I won't! I think I'll probably be weighing my income/options and try to see if I can get a stronger piece of equipment to get me in a comfortable place with vaping. I've played with the e juices, not with the flavored prefilled cartos yet. I'll buy a pack in my next purchase and see what they're like. Thanks for the feedback!

Hope all of you guys have a great Saturday night!!! :D

Hey Captcpu!

Thanks for answering my post! I have an automatic battery and had thought, if I stick with the 808, I'd buy the manuals next. (the mega manual batts) Didn't think of using a 901 atty on an 808 batt, thanks for that! Now that you mention 3 drops, how long is 3 drops of juice supposed to last me? I take pretty strong draws, so that amount lasts me an average of about 5 draws before I get a burnt taste or minimal vapor. Is that normal? What do you vape with?

I've heard about Mountain Pop! Ok, so those two, along with Tangerine are definitely my next purchase from her!

Thanks!!!!!

Drak,
Thank you for the welcome!
You're welcome for the welcome!
I love the convenience of the cartomizers!
Me Too!
I have a tendency to over fill them though and get some juice seepage but besides that, yeah, you're right, they're pretty convenient.
You think maybe 510 cartomizers with an adapter would work better than an 808 carto?
That would probably be the way I went, but everyone has their own way, and as long as it involves Not Smoking Cigarettes, it's All Good!
I do think a major reason for my not being able to fully taste all the juice is because my tastebuds haven't fully regained consciousness, if you will.
I'm hoping they come back soon. I really, really do.
They will. They really, really will.:)
How long did it take your tastebuds to come back?
They're still recuperating after a 30 year long Photon Torpedo Attack, but I can taste better a little bit almost every day now. It just takes time and patience.
I'm going to try that 2x flavor request this time and see what happens.
I did 2x flavor, and I also did flavors that were ehhh, really 'perky'.
Flavors that are very tart, tangy, hot...you get the idea...be creative when choosing juices that need to overcome your slumbering buds. And it can change daily. Just yesterday for 1/2 day I had a weird taste in my mouth and vaping was flat. Left it alone, and by mid-day things were 'normal.
I can't explain it, I just accept it and know it'll that way for awhile.

Your carto carrier is so cool, where'd you get it?
I got that from NiteLiteVapors, they carry them for (I think) $2.25 each, is that thing cool or what?
I'm going to order lots more.

Hang In There!

Congrats to you. Gosh what a scare that must have been getting pneumonia. Yikes :( Maybe all things do happen for a reason? The vaping obsession has only grown for me. Reading stories like yours makes the day brighter. Instead of the news I read the forum about people who are transforming their lives that never thought they could. Having the guilties for so many years about smoking, there's a freedom and joy that only this club can understand. Aren't we lucky to be part of it? I look forward to your carto stories and adventures in dripping. If you're wary of looking like you're sucking on an 18-wheeler's tailpipe, take a look at the GLV2 SuperMini - about 2 inches tall. With a LR 306 atty or a dual coil carto it vapes like a 6v supermonster mod. Vape happy :)

I started vaping about two or three months ago with 0mg hoping the throat hit people were talking about would be a little better than non-existent. I was wrong :/ . I personally don't taste the same flavor in 0mg after a day or so. So I've been using low 6-8mg nic juice for the past month or so now. I'm looking to DIY and find the perfect level for me. I think somewhere between 3-5mg would be perfect for me, but I'll see soon enough.

As far as obsession...my g/f hates the things! And how I talk non-stop about all the cool stuff I'm finding....
