To quit smoking/dipping, a person has to overcome seriously hard obstacles. I was an avid smoker and dipper for many years. After attempting to quit, more than a few times, I felt it was impossible. Like so many, I had tried nearly everything without success. I'd seen my gums blacken from dipping, my teeth turn the color of a used cig ...., my health deteriorate... I knew I had to quit, I just couldn't bend my will to make it happen. On top of that, every quit-aid has crazy side effects warnings that certainly scared me. I didn't want to quit using methods that would ruin my sex drive, sleeping patterns, make me depressed, or any of the others listed on the packages of Smoking Cessation Aids.
I first heard about e-cigs on the radio from some proclaimed "Dr. Somebody" and honestly I just didn't believe it. After asking around at various smoke shops, I found out they were pretty expensive (for me anyway). I stopped inquiring at that point. If I couldn't afford it, why bother. About 6 months later, I ended up on a site with a "savings calc" that told me I'd save a lot if I switched to an e-cig. I saved up $100 and dove in (this got me a pretty nice kit with everything I needed, including the e-juice). I bought a KR808 and I quit smoking the day it was delivered. This was just the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
At first, I did notice I was saving quite a bit of money from not buying packs of cigs every day. Though, the cartos and e-juice are not cheap either. Over the course of the year, I looked into how to cut my costs even further. After learning about reusing cartos (dripping) and finding a ton of people online who explain how to "cut" the e-juice you buy from the vendor with PG or VG to get twice the liquid for the cost of the PG or VG (which is well worth it). This was great, I thought that was the end of the savings gravy train but it didn't make sense to me that you spend the same on non-flavored nicotine e-liquid as you do on flavored ones (some vendors charge a little less, but it still didn't make sense). This is when I decided to really look into creating my very own blend of e-juice. It took a little while to get the proportions where I liked them, but the time spent was worth it for my very happy wallet. Now, I can easily get through a month or two on just $12 (YES, only twelve dollars).
