Hi everyone,

Wanted to see what the general opinion of most desired mechanicals were.

I know Caravela's and chi you's seem to top the list quite often. If we want to run with this and call them tier 1 desirables (I'm no expert), where would the other mods rank? (desirability is up to you, whether its looks, durability, scarcity, features)

I ask this because there are so many mods that I want, starting from those 2, to the makaveli, zen2, semovar, etc.

Again, there is no science! Just wanted everyone else's opinions.

As posted below, readily available is the most important factor,as long as i can purchase it without having to keep coming back to a site to see if it is in stock or not.The Precise ELA (which i am expecting to ship this week,finally)-Curve from nhaler.Legacy from puresmoker. If you noticed the pattern in my list, all U.S.A. made. While the mechs you have listed are nice and i would love to be able to get my hands on one, they are usually out of stock and i tend to look elsewhere for my next mod at that point.Lastly,i do not class my mechs in tiers,i concider them works of art, masterpieces. That is really what a true mech mod is.

Honestly ... almost any true mechanical mod is going to work and work well. It usually comes down to two things ...

1) The look of the mod
2) The performance

You'll notice that alot of people get caught up in #2 and find themselves wanting low voltage drop off. And while numbers are great, and certainly important if you want to determine the TRUE wattage you are vaping at ... they can often get in the way of people's enjoyment. Very simply, if you enjoy the vape ... then the device is performing well enough. I've seen people happy with a certain mechanical, then test the voltage drop off and suddenly they don't seem to enjoy it as much. WHY? The vape is exactly the same, the only difference is that they now have it in their head that their voltage drop off should be less.

I own a CCTS, Kamry K100, Zenesis ASH, and iHybrid F3CTA (should be here in the next 2 days). The machining and finish on the high-ends are certainly superior but honestly, even the $30-$35 mods work very well ... especially given the price.

So the biggest factor IMHO is going to be which ones you think look the best. That is not to say that some offer different switch style and functions. That certainly plays a factor too. But in the end ... it's about producing a quality vape which almost all of them WILL do.

Based solely on looks and battery flexibility I'd love a http://www.atmizoo.com/shop/roller-ss-m/?lang=enroller. I'm not a fan of pinky button or bottom firing mods, so that leaves me with very few options. I have a sigelie #20 on pre-order as well as the new smok tech mini e pipe. Probably not the most desirable but they're within by budget so I desire them;)

There's too many mods to try and make a list...

the only thing making the top mods... well, top, is looks and rarity.

I wasn't interested in them honestly... I mean I like the Caravela but it has nothing that would make me:

1. wait
2. pay over retail

I do still use one of the "hard to obtain" mods... but I have it for 2 reasons:

1. I like the looks/style/features as much as anything else out there.

2. I had decided I was buying a mech one week... I had a list of 4 mods I would buy... it was the first one that was available

I'd say my NZonic is in tier 2... it's not a Caravella or iHybrid... but it's not a Gus and certainly not a Chinese clone.

You'll have to tell me what you think of the precise ELA! Super interested int hat as well.

I would have gotten on the pre-order list for the ELA but I don't like the tapered bottom. I like to set my devices down in front of me and the ELA isn't very "standup friendly" and that is quoted by the maker. I'm not a fan of bottom buttons for the same reason. I have a Moneypenny mech and love it not only because it's a unique looking device, but it's affordable and the top cap isn't threaded, meaning I can twist it around to any position. Because of this, it is the most "comfortable to hold" mod I have.

I bought the EA Mod for a couple reasons... I liked the looks and the name and my favorite reviewer uses and loves it. I bought a Roller because of the reputation of the company that makes it.. plus it was available and the 69 wasn't.

I have stayed away from the mass produced china devices. I don't really want to have to mod anything to get a good performance and when I've watched reviews.. they've had to do some modding. Voltage underload is important to me and I want the best conductivity I can get.

for me I dont care much what it looks like, all about function. attys and cartos do not work for me, I break them, switched to rebuildables and broke a few of those, switched to hybrids, most come apart or glass tank breaks. Finaly I got a sdog and it just keeps working. have 3 now and thats all I use. forget how it looks, buy what is most useful for your lifestyle

Your question is somewhat difficult as it is extremely objective. But, I totally get what you're asking. Of course, not everyone will agree with my opinions, but this is what I've figured out on my own. Also, I won't say that the Tiers mean that one is necessarily better than another, but seems to be more of the difficulty in finding them.

Tier 1 - seems to be things that are very difficult to get as there are very few of them made or they aren't being made anymore. You mentioned Caravella, Chi Yous, and Billet Box. I would also say any of the Limited Edition Ihybrids and Juggernauts as well.

Tier 2 - seems to be things that are still difficult to get, but not impossible to get and is much more objective than tier 1. Ihybrids, Orions, Poldiacs, Mark Buggs, (might be considered tier 1) , Macavellis etc...

Tier 3 - seems to be things that you can find, but might not be readily available. Zenesis, GGs

Tier 4 - seems to be anything readily available. Clones

This is not an all inclusive list by any means, but at least gives you a starting point. I would look on ModTrader and the classifieds here that will give you a good idea on where to start.

I buy the mods I can get and dream about those I can't. Since so many are so difficult to obtain (unless you want to buy used and even then...) I guess in the higher "tier" of things? I really, really want an Nzonic. That magnetic switch has got to be some sort of vaping magic.

Thanks for the really informative post. I agree how this is all subjective but that's what makes it so much fun for me. The scarcity just adds to it.

Do you really think Zen is tier 3 esq? Seems like zenesis is a very polarizing character in the community

What are your perceived tier 1s? Maybe I'll buy them as well haha

I go on a I see it available, I decide if I want it (takes a few seconds) and then buy it if I do. Sometimes the things I think I want, not so much when I can get them. Sometimes I see things I never thought about and then want them. No rational logic or tiers are applied, just snap judgments and a debit card. This is pertaining to high end stuff though.

For china stuff I sometimes talk myself into it but usually just pass.

PAPS are released every few weeks, is a no-frills tube mod with practical design, modest engraving, modest price, serial numbers are getting higher, parts are available, is about to become a predecessor, but it took me almost 30 minutes and uncountable f5's to add it to my cart and finish checkout. Which tier is that?

I put a torched fade on my Smok Natural, acid etched the button, used electrolosys to strip all plated parts to brass and am getting better at silver plating them, it has a 0.28v drop with an RDA, 0v at the connector, made the negetive post adjustable and battery tension solid (sans spring) to lock the body threads, accept multiple battery types and end battery wobble, lowered the top connector to flush, shortened the adjustable positive post, smoothed all burrs and sharp edges. I consider it tier 1 of mass produced Chinese mechs, now.
