What would you say is the most durable, least likely to fail overtime rba? I am looking for one that could last quite a while. I have a phoenix but it is not anything special and really want something that will last as long as me if possible. Just wanting something with good materials, no little parts to fail and then leave me SOL. What are your suggestions, either dripping or tank style, no real preference.

I agree about the DID. Standard is with the stainless tank. Well machined, and nice hardware. If you lose something, replacement parts are available. I have pyrex tanks on mine, and they are quite fragile. I've already cracked one. But with the stainless tank, they're pretty durable. I have two of them; a standard and a shorty.

For a tank RBA that won't ever leak in your pocket like a genesis will, I would strongly suggest either a GG Penelope or a GG Odysseus, or even the new Ithaka that's coming out soon. Though they are pricey they will last a lifetime, and especially if you were to stock up on some spare o-rings and ceramics, and then get a big order of wick and wire you will be set. I love my Penelope, and not being able to use it for the last month has killed me (I ruined my ceramic and o-rings by myself, by no fault was it the problem of the device itself).

The ceramics are a lot stronger than I expected after hearing stories of people breaking theirs. I actually dropped it from about head height several times onto a hard marble floor and it still didn't break until I actually slammed it, and even then it was only a tiny chip out of the corner that would have still been usable. The ceramic was already ruined because I soaked the entire Penelope in gasoline to clean it after it was in a house fire, not realizing it was only the metal parts I was supposed to do that with (whoops) so I figured I would at least see how durable they are since it wasn't safe to use it anymore (it actually wouldn't have been safe to use even after cleaning I found out because of the smoke from the fire so it was a good thing I did soak it in gasoline, because otherwise I would have used it and possibly become very ill) and I was very, VERY surprised how strong it was. I would have probably have had to smash it with something to get it to split apart completely.

Edit: Not saying there's anything wrong with a genesis, quite the contrary, they are some of the best vapes you will ever have. Since everybody else is offering their opinions on genesis style RBA's, I figured I would add mine about something different for out and about or home use. A genesis is much better used at home, not carried around in a pocket or it will most likely leak everywhere.

im voting for MMV too the DID line - there are a few models, are built tough and even if abused i cant see how they would fail too easily.

the penny and the ody rock too but seeing how the only place to get them is clones or classifieds, i would be worried about future availability of the parts.

+1 to the GG style tanks! I freakin' hated tanks b4 I got my terminators. Too fiddly and leaky for me. But these things are totally different. Juice flow controlled so you can close it off and no leaking, plus with it closed you can drip and it doesn't effect what's in the tank. A little more set-up to them as they require nr wire as well as kanthal/nichrome, but if you use silver crimp beads to join the wires together, set-up can be just as easy if not easier than genesis atties.

It can be a bit of a pain to get parts, but all that you really need are ceramics and o-rings, and it's unlikely you will even need o-rings. Plus all other RBA's require o-rings so it's nothing different there, and like I said the ceramics are very durable, but you can just buy a few the next time they're on sale (they're like 2 bucks or something) and be set for life...

i agree and the gg stuff rocks but my only thought was - they dont make them anymore, why would they continue to make parts? the suppliers are no longer in the GG equation, once old stock sells off thats it. "if" and its a big if, the tank or threads or something stupid happens, what to do? you have it apart, drop it and ruin some threading or just what ifs.
right now the clones offer parts that fit, but how long till china moves to the next thing and drops those too.

to each his own, i personally just dont recommend things after production stops on things i like to use.

For durability, you're going to have to sacrifice the benefits of a glass or FC tank section. Many of the RBA's out there either have aftermarket metal tank sections, and a few (like the DID) come with SS tank sections to begin with.

I'll say that as a disclaimer, I haven't yet used either of these- but...

The Bliss: SS or Ti construction, made by a respected modder, tank shield to protect the glass tank section, versatile deck

The Synthesis: Basically, a 22mm version of the top section of the iHybrid. Does not come with a standard 510 connection, which I consider to be a major weak point (possibly THE definitive weak point) in our hobby. Instead, it threads directly onto the PAPS, GGTS (w/adapter incl.), GUS G22 and Tele, BBMods, Caravela, and if you have a GG stealth rethreader, the Chi_You. Includes a metal tank protector. iHy gear is built to last a long, long time.
