Hi everyone! My brother is wanting to move over to vaping, which is great. However, I am having a hard time helping him get a really good eCig, because I use an Ego One and istick with a nautilus mini, and never really bothered with the eCigs themselves.

I don't feel comfortable reaserching further online, because marketing always has V2 and VaporFi as the best out there, which I don't believe to be true whatsoever (too expensive when others out there are cheaper and better).

Does anyone have any recommendations for eCigs that I can share with him?

He has tried mine many times, but likes the 'feel' of a cigarette to help him quit the habit, at least at first. He tried the V2 EX eCig from a friend and liked it, but I thought he could get something better in that category for cheaper for the few crucial weeks of the switchover. Then, I will give him one of my extra iSticks and Nautilus minis if he is ready to move up in the world lol

You are very intelligent.... :)

I congratulate you on not falling for these brands. Both are 'involved' (to a greater or lesser extent) in a global marketing campaign of commissions and non-independent biased reviews.

It is also sad the the "#1 vaping magazine" also recommends people to buy these brands. What this means is that people who vape (or involved in some way) want to have a slice of the money pie from new people to vaping. Some people say this is the way of the world. I say the community is bigger and better than allowing the total steam-rollering of the internet for commercial advantage.

I started vaping with a starter setup from SmokelessImage, the Volts. That's a decent/reputable brand which is a registered supplier on ECF.

I must say that I grew tired of the generally poor battery life of any "cigalike". It's just too small of a battery to simulate smoking. The sooner your brother realizes this and advances up to either an eGo battery setup or a mod the better off he will be.

Nevets, I have a bunch of V2 batteries a charger (USB) and empty cartos I can send your way if you are interested. He can fill them with the juice of his choice and get started. PM me if you are interested and in living in the states :)

International shipping would be a PITA.

All in real good shape.

That is the way of the world, sadly.

Some folks do seem to think that cig-size is what they need or have to use. I was like that over 3 years ago. I also started with volts from SmokelessImage, and they were good enough to get me off my 40 year smoking habit. Like most people, I began to search for larger longer life devices because it does get tiresome to keep charging batteries. You might consider an Evod starter kit as that would be the next step up the ladder and not all that much bigger.

If you do decide to go the cig-sized route with cartomizers, might I recommend you also add some Kanger T4 clearomizers. (some companies call these mini tanks) The T2 comes in either 808 or 510 threading.

Thank you all for so much great feedback, and for the offer on the V2 batteries. After having him read these, he is willing to go with the Ego style and has decided to start with the Ego One, versus using a smaller eCig that runs out of batteries too quickly and doesn't get the vap Egos do. Thanks again everyone!!

This is great news. Let me put it this way.

I smoked; I wanted to stop (12-18 hand rolled).

I bought cig-a-likes - I did not stop smoking and I spent $800 in 4 months.

I bought a double eGo kit - I quit smoking and spent $300 in the next year.

- - - -

Not wishing to upset the thread, I wouldn't personally be able to vape using an eGo ONE.
Not everybody can physically handle this sort of power.

Just sayin' :)

if he wants a ciga like then he will have to pay for it... it costs alot of money to cram all that goodness into a tiny tube... money should be no object when it comes to quitting smoking... have him try the Blu disposables at 10-20$ a day maybe even more since 1/3rd of them are DOA when you open the package...

or else, get an Istick 30 and a decent tank and help him save lots of money ( maybe he will give you the money he saves not buying Blus ;) )

+1 on at least having a variable voltage battery, personally I find the eLeaf 20/30's very pocketable and they pack a bunch of mAh in a fairly tiny package. There are many inexpensive eGo VV batteries available. (I got my start on a Clk!)

The Aspire Maxi and K1's are both fairly inexpensive, they use the same coils (BDC/BVC) and are reliable (not known for leaking). One of the Aspire Nautilus tanks would be a slight step up in juice capacity and flavor.
