I just had a tooth extracted. I won't go into details, but it turned into a surgical thing, and I've got a crater in my jaw. My gut is telling me that with a wound in the mouth, vaping is probably as bad as smoking if not worse. Is there any data? Anyone got any info?
I had a tooth extracted a couple months before I started vaping--I was smoking pretty good though. They told me that in order not to get "dry socket" which is an extremely painful thing apparently, that after an extraction one should not *smoke* or do anything like *suck drinks through a straw* which is the action that causes this. I think it was for 3-4 days. I went ahead and smoked, at the same time I made sure to put a cotton wad over the "hole" AND not to do any real strong "drawing" on the cigarette. I did heal up without this "dry socket" thing. Apparently the "dry socket" is so painful that you will wish you were back to the "extracted tooth pain" so I would sure do my best to guard against it for the first week. You can google it for more info.

Gotta agree that from what I've heard a dry socket is not something I would want. OTOH, I had a tooth extracted last year and I had my first vape in the car leaving the dentist. What I did was just not pull hard. Not difficult as I was using cartos with very light draw. I had no problems. I did the same thing years ago after an extraction when I smoked.

Now, I've got to say that that is me and you are you. I was willing to take the risk. I also have a high tolerance for pain and would have blamed only myself for failing. Whatever you do, best of luck with it :thumb:

Many years ago I had a tooth extracted.
They told me all the same stuff they told you.
Don't create suction like smoking, drinking through straws etc etc.
And dont exert yourself.
I was young, and of course didn't follow their instructions.
I was smoking right out of the office, but broke my filters off and was taking small drags.
Later that day I was feeling better and felt good enough that I ended up wrenching on my car.
Repacked the wheel bearings and did a few other things.

Next day.......immense pain. Yep.....dry socket.
Ended up rushing to the dentist and the fix is none too pleasant.
He ended up putting a 6 inch piece of gauze into the "hole" which tasted like it had been soaked in the ashes of a bon fire that had been pee'd out.
It was absolutely terrible.
Had it in for about a week.
When he pulled it out, it was the most disgusting, foul smelling thing you could imagine.

Some food for thought.

I'm having a tooth extracted on the 16th. I'm just going to take very lite draws afterwards maybe a nic-lozenge here and there. Just got to take it easy while healing.

*Gasp* That dose not sound fun may have to rethink my strategy.

Dry socket was the only time in my life I took Percocet...!!
Trust us.....regardless of how much you crave a vape....
WAIT IT OUT!!!
My pain was far worse than when my German Shepard bit through the arch of my foot (I accidentally stepped on him while he was asleep...and I was drunk!! My fault, entirely!!!)...I didn't take Perc for this....just more Jack Daniels!!!;)
