Movie Quiz 27

It's the first Friday of the new year, which means, of course, it's time for a quiz!

For no particular reason, I figured I'd go with mostly comedies for the first movie quiz of 2012. So, with that in mind, let's see which of these movies you can identify.

Hmmm, I only know 2, 5 and 6 this week. A couple of others look a little familiar though. Now if you have a disaster movie week I'd probably know them all....LOL

I know #5, and it's not a comedy...but it does have it's moments!
#1 looks familiar...but I don't know.
4&8 are mysteries. I'll wait for some clues!

Caff - Thanks for continuing this in 2012! I definitely know 3, and 4, 5, and 8 look familiar. I'll figure them out (hopefully).

#2 should strike you as kind of silly too, eh?

Hints? (Select paragraphs to reveal the clues).

1. The address is a dentist's office and the new mystery location of the titular character in this Pixar film.
2. A spoof of western movies. The director also famously spoofed Star Wars and a Universal Studios horror classic (although he pronounced it differently ).
3. Jonathan Richman (The Modern Lovers) narrates/sings along all this story about a man who misses out on a prom date with his dream girl in a horrible zipper accident. Years later, he's still obsessed with her and tries to track her down, but he's not the only man interested in her. There are lots of gross-out scenes in this comedy.
4. It's Christmas 2011 and somebody's got the munchies again. In 3D.
5. Based on a story by technovapir's favourite sci-fi writer?
6. Tim Burton combines live action and stop-motion animation in this adaptation of a story by Roald Dahl.
7. "The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and..."
   If you remember A Mighty Wind, the protaganists had a reunion of sorts playing folk versions of their characters from this movie.
8. The characters here are on a trip to find the "eighth wonder of the world" and bring it back to New York with them.
