Happy Friday, guys!

We're going with a themed quiz for this week: Movies Involving God and Religion. A couple of the selections are probably kind of obscure, but there are also two or three that I'm sure most of you know.

I guess we'll see how it plays out, eh? :D

There are eight screenshots below. Most of them should be fairly recognizable if you've seen the films. So, which of these movies can you identify?

Please answer with movie numbers only, not titles..

As usual, I'll post the answers Sunday morning-ish.

Time for a few hints, perhaps?

I'd like to mention first that I really don't want to spoil #5 at all. It's a thought provoking little movie that's all about the dialog and the story being told. I feel that anybody who wants to see this film should see it without knowing beforehand how it's going to play out.

OK, now for some actual hints. :)

#1: A lot of undue controversy surrounded this Martin Scorsese movie. It tells the story of how Jesus' life may have gone if he had been rescued from the cross instead of dying there.

#4: The movie's extended title, excluding the most familiar portion: "...A Musical Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew".

#6: Court Clerk: Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
God (George Burns): So help me, me.

#8: This is a little-seen documentary from 2006 about evangelical indoctrination at summer camp.

Hope these help! :D

    in a cave, eh?
More hints if you need 'em:

    1. A movie about what might happen if Jesus gave into temptation, abandoned the cross and married Mary Magdalene.
    2. A comedy about a down-on-his-luck tv reporter that gets to be god for a week.
    3. The epic Charlton Heston film that plays on tv every Easter.
    4. A musical that reenacts parables from the gospel of Matthew on the streets of modern-day New York.
    5. A retiring professor tells his farewell party that he's really a prehistoric caveman who's survived for more than 14,000 years.
    6. God gets John Denver, an assistant supermarket manager, to be his messenger to the modern world.
    7. Two fallen angels find themselves on earth trying to get themselves back into heaven without realizing that to do so would destroy all existence. Jay and Silent Bob help the woman god asks to stop them.
    8. A documentary about a christian summer camp where children are taught they can take back America for Christ.
