Happy Friday, guys! Sorry about posting this week's quiz so late, but I totally lost track of the days this week.

So, here's the quiz... better late than never, eh? :D

There are eight screenshots below. Most of them should be fairly recognizable if you've seen the films. So, which of these movies can you identify?

Please answer with movie numbers only, not titles..

Good luck!

As usual, I'll post the answers Sunday morning-ish.

Thanks Caff! I thought you might take the week off for the holiday!
I thought about it, but I had a surplus of screenshots already downloaded. So, putting this week's quiz together was pretty quick and easy. Usually, if I start out with just ideas but no screenshots, assembling a quiz will take me about two hours.

I'm so old, that I saw #1 in the movie theater...back when they just had 1 screen...:D
Which means that you're probably only a few years older than me - I was about nine years old when #1 was in theaters. I first saw it three or four years later on one of the original cable movie channels, "Star Channel."

Bumping and hinting...

#1: This movie is the film version of the first full-length "rock opera" to achieve any real success or notoriety.

#2: Quentin Tarantino's half of the "Grindhouse" double-feature.

#4: A movie starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford, and a screenshot that shows them looking something like journalists. If you don't get this one from the screenshot, you probably haven't seen the movie.

#8: These are the rules:

  1. Keep them out of the light.
  2. Don't get them wet.
  3. Never, never feed them after midnight.

Hope these help! :)

    in a cave, eh?
More hints if you need 'em:

    1. That deaf, dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball!
    2. Stuntman Mike has a fetish for killing young pretty girls with his specially reinforced car. Rose McGowan (seen here) is his first victim, but he's no match for Stuntwoman Zoe (Xena: Warrior Princess' badass stunt double) and her friends.
    3. Billy Crystal is having a mid-life crisis, goes to a dude ranch (a gift from his friends) and has to deal with Curly, the tough ranch boss, while they all go out on a long cattle drive.
    4. Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman are Woodward and Bernstein, two reporters investigating a break-in at the Watergate Hotel.
    5. Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon and the U.S. military all converge on Devils Tower where aliens have landed in this classic Spielberg sci-fi drama. ♫ Da da da daaa da ... ♫
    6. ♫ It was sad, It was sad,
      It was sad when the great ship went down;
Husbands and wives, little children lost their lives, (Uncles and aunts, little girls lost their pants, ;))
It was sad when the great ship went down. ♫
    7. Will Ferrel is the newsman manning the desk who'll say anything written on the teleprompter, Paul Rudd is the fashion-oriented field reporter, Steve Carrell (Brick) is the "legally ......ed" weatherman, Fred Willard is their boss and Christina Applegate is the new reporter and love interest.
    8. Get 'em wet, feed 'em late and it's Mogwais Gone Wild! Woo!

Time for this week's answers... right after this:

With the holidays approaching at the speed of light, and a ton of related--and unrelated--stuff I need to get done in the next few weeks, I've decided to put the weekly Movie Quiz on hiatus. Interest in the thread seems to have been dropping off over the last several weeks anyway, so I think this might be a good time to give it a break.

I'll plan to pick it up again after the new year, and see how it plays out. :)

    And now, answer time:

    1. Tommy
    2. Death Proof (from Grindhouse)
    3. City Slickers
    4. All the President's Men
    5. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    6. Titanic
    7. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
    8. Gremlins

    Thanks for playing!
