I'm fairly new to vaping but I'm ready to upgrade from my spinner. I want a mod-haven't decided on which one though. The budget is about $100... so I've been looking at SiD, zmax, mvp 2 or the vamo (which I'm leaning towards most as of this moment) Are there any others you guys might suggest? I would love to hear of any others (without having to use fasttech-cuz want it within a few days of ordering-im impatient. lol...) oh and I love my T3S and ARO (which i rewick coil heads for with cotton now) clearos and until I start using my own coils I think I'll keep using those so the 'well' of whatever mod i do get has to fit those babies :)
Heres my big question/concern....
If I get a mod that reads resistance-is that good enough for testing my own coils? Or do I HAVE to have a multimeter reader or a ohm reader on the side? I'd like to 'kill two birds with one stone' by using my mod to test my coils as I learn? Are there pro and cons you experienced vapers might wanna throw at me?

I appreciate you help, opinions and advice!!! :2cool:

I'd recommend the iTaste SVD if you're wanting a telescoping mod, or the MVP if you prefer the look, feel and style of a box mod. You really can't go wrong with either and both are in your budget range. Depending on where you get them, you'll even have money to pick up a tank and possibly some juice as well.

The SVD will work with the TS3's, MT3S's, Protanks, EVODS etc. I have a few of each and have never had any issues with them. I do seem to recall than the MVP has issues with one of them (not the Protank), but I can't recall which one.

iTaste SVD. Built like a tank and can check ohms very easy. I have one and absolutely love it. I also have a SID and wouldn't hesitate recommending that either.

I am forunate to have not had pushed down pin problem so far. (Knocking on wood) I try to be super careful/gentle when putting a clearo/tank on ny batteries. But if/when this happens is it an eady fix? Can it be pushed so far down it stays doe no matter what?

I have a feeling I 'should' go with the mvp for a few reasons but am not sure how much I like its style-I think I would prefer how the tube mod feels in my hand. However, I will only be using it at home and/or occasional night of cards at a friends so maybe a box mod would be nice! I know in my heart I'll eventually fet a second mod-so... I just need to make up my mind on this... lol

Thanks again for all the input. :)

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!! :)

Vjdossey prying up the pin is very simple, just use a toothpick or paperclip and go around the pin gently. This should lift it up and center it. Some heads can push the pin down further than others, or over time juice can build up down in and around that pin causing it not to re-center itself as it should. In this case use some alcohol let it loosen the gunk and clean well with q-tip/paper towel until clean.

thank you so much for this info!!! I try to make it a habit to clean that area each time I do a fill up :) and now I know how to fix the pin if this should happen... I love this forum and the kind people here!!!

I would recommend either the SVD or MVP. Depending on which style you prefer. Both are high quality reliable devices, both are very reasonably priced (esspecially if you order from Fast Tech). For the $100 budget you mentioned you could actually get both and have just enough left over to buy a charger and 2 batteries (which you will need for the SVD). Well you might go $10 over to include chargers and batts ;)
I have gone through quite a few mods and in hindsight can honestly say you could get by just fine just having an SVD and MVP. You really wouldn't need anything else. If I had figured that out several months ago I would have saved quite a bit of money. But then I wouldn't have had as much fun with my new vice/addiction/obsession :) So no regrets

I love how you think. Of course I am after a durable device that will work well and as long as possible. I too love the tinkering, learning and getting my next new vaping supply (toy-lol). I figure at some point I'll have both just because... so, I keep telling myself to go ahead ahead and try fasttech -save money and get MORE! I am worried though. I don't want a huge delay in delivery and/or any issues that I've read others have when ordering from there. I have already put a lot of time in researching, reading, and learning that once I finally place my order- well... I want it as soooon as possible. I do not have a local shop option either. Well except for Apollo e cigs- I do use them often but they only carry a few things and as far as mods they only have the evic. If I do buy that- I'll get it there since the warehouse is 20 min from me ...
Wonder if I ordered from fastech this weekend if id get it before Christmas- I am going to upgrade my hubby to a mod as well-even though he says he doesn't 'need' one... who 'needs' one? lol he said the same about his spinner but after a couple hours with that he was like 'wowwwwweeeee' what a difference :) duh! Hahaha
Ok-ive rambled enough... lol

I have a Vamo a SID and SVD and I can recommend all three. The SID and SVD have the advantage of the removable top cap which will allow you to put your tank on until it contacts the center pin then unscrew the top cap until its snugged up to the bottom of your tank.

If you go with the Vamo I recommend the stainless steel version and get a straight ego cone trim ring; then you can use it to limit how far down you can screw on your tank to protect the center pin.

Fasttech posted the itaste SVD today for like $36. They also have some nice MVP kits in the $40 range. Ever look at fasttech before?
Omg- those prices are amazing. I have browsed fasttech and even filled my cart there a time or two but ended up buying elsewhere because of all the shipping issues I've read about. Batteries not getting delivered orvtaking two months. Shipments being lostband so on. Have those issues all been resolved? Honestly at those prices I could get both and one for my guy-lol... I'd love to hear about your experience with them?

THANK YOU for the detailed vamo top cap info :) that is priceless info imo... I wouldn't have known about differences until far after getting it and nosing around asking why certain things didn't work or fit! I appreciate your help!

Fast Tech shipping time varies. One thing I have learned though...smaller packages seem to move slightly faster than large ones. So if I were you I would order the MVP as one order, then expect it to arrive in about 3 weeks. Have the SVD as a seperate order. Find batteries stateside There have been problem getting batteries from Fast Tech recently, and you don't want your order stopped after a week or 2 waiting just because it contained batteries. I am used to stalking orders from Fast Tech. Seems like it takes forever but generally from when I order to when I receive is 3 weeks more or less.

ncvapfan: very funny, tube style is all I know so far so I suppose that's why I'm leaning more in that direction.
QUESTION: mvp description says 510 connection. No ego? Would I need an adapter? Do they have 'beauty' rings for the mvp? I use mostly ego style clearos now.

Hoping to learn to rebuild after I get my mod- and if I choose the mvp I'll have plenty left to buy kanthal and a few other things to go with it. Like a rba. Was thinking bout the rsst? Any suggestions? I'd prefer it not to be a huge rba- and not really interested in dripping either. I don't sit long enough to do that. I still wear my spinner on a layard so it's with me always(except work)
Any other things come to mind that you would suggest I buy while (if) I'm ordering the mvp to help make it pretty as well as versatile???
Scary: 101 has great prices- thank you. They're sold out of the svd right now :-/ do you know how often they restock or maybe a thread dedicated to them and the products they carry?
One more thought- mvp only goes to 5 volts and 11 watts :-/ I generally vape at 4-4.4 volts w a 1.8 ohm coil so I don't think it would be a big deal for me but wondering if those limits have put a damper on things for anyone else?
