Hey Rupp!....I wish. Going into the distribution center, we have to go through a metal detector....Where I usually place my ProVari or istick on the table as I walk in. NOW, we won't be able to even bring any mods/e-cigs into the building at all. They have left it (for the time being) that we can smoke/vape, in one designated area OUTSIDE the building. Still hearing that they want to make the entire property smoke/vape free.......(which SUCKS!):glare:

even/morn Crew.

I can see them banning in areas where there's non-vapers but messed up if you're the only one in that space. Would be beneficial to the company to at a minimum to have designated areas - morale will take a dive if they don't and that can cause all sorts of problems. Vape area also needs to be separate from smoking area - if vaper wants to go in smoking section that's their choice but can't have smoking in the vape corral. Having a union (which I'm guessing you don't) could force them to provide areas.
They came out with a notice for us a couple weeks ago saying we can't vape in the government buildings anymore. They felt they had broadcast it because apparently people have been a bit idiotic and setting off the detectors/alarms which the base fire department has to respond to. Easy fix - don't cloud chase, don't blow it near the detectors or be near one. I have my own office without a detector so I'm still doing at my desk.

There are (4) people that vape (that use to smoke) @ my work, that are "warehouse/distribution center workers". For the past 4 years, I've been bringing my "vape" into the building with me to my work area. The other (3), leave them in their locker ( I don't have a locker, and don't want/need one). My work room is FAR away from the main working areas, and we have only about (5) people in my area. If I do "sneak" a vape, it's usually away from the other (4) people, and they don't mind anyways (since there is another "vaper" in the room, and a smoker). On break, we stay in the cafeteria, but are in one corner area, away from the rest of the group (roughly 25 people). None of us are "cloud chasers", and we've NEVER had the fire company have to come out because of a minimal amount of "water vapor". I've been told that the company wants to make the company "tobacco" free, which they have included chewing tobacco, and yes, they've thrown in e-cigs as well (just like an uneducated government agency would). We do have a union there.....and since BOTH the shop steward and myself (asst. steward), VAPE......We would definitely PUSH the issue here! We think that the "head biotch" in human (lack of resources), is spearheading this, and is including the (2) of us, just because we are the union reps. there. They are all on a perpetual power-trip, and don't care what we think.

Sounds like you got a case and backing in your favor. I've seen quite a few fools in HR that always try to put their own interpretation on things cause want to push the power and most people won't question them. Being on private property makes it a bit harder for you but until there's a state or federal law against it then it's more difficult for them to implement and enforce - especially with union backing. A few years ago there were a couple people here making some noise about the smoking areas around our building. Something was mentioned to a union rep and they started asking questions - the noise makers shut up real fast cause if they would have pushed it a whole bunch of money would have needed to be found to provide some things. If HR keeps pushing then it's time to educate the higher ups with facts not personal beliefs and you can bet HR won't have any facts on the issue.

I just found out today that our company is adding a $50 "smokers" penalty. Havent heard yet if it includes a test or if they are taking our word for it. We roll to the new policies in January.
