I have it right cause I do as little as possible and the only reason I do any work is cause the bosses keep screwing up. The problem is definitely with management.

(OK... in fact, when I was working I was paid well enough as a gubermint contractor, not for the work that I wasn't doing most of the time but rather for the work that I did when it needed to be done and I was the best one around at doing it.)

Start paying taxes - I need a raise.
That's pretty much what I get paid for most of the time - not how much I do but for what I do when it's needed - when things go bump in the night and don't work the way they're supposed to, I get the call. I do spend some time keeping an eye on things to make sure they don't go bump in the night.
Same general plan but maybe some different details.
What's funny is that there are only a few people around here that actually understand what I do. A few years ago some folks started making noise wanting to know why I was always leaving in the middle of the day. The top guy told them to shut up and that when they started getting called in the middle of the night and beginning their day at 0400 then maybe they could go home early too.
Why is it that people always think that what someone else is doing is any of their business...........
