I was born in 68 but we moved back to the states when I was only 18 months so I remember none of it.
Oh...it is. made it to mainland a couple times....even climbed Mt. Fuji. Okinawa has a different culture....less modern in one respect. But Okinawans also don't consider themselves Japanese, so there's definitely a difference....
He was likely at Kadena, but you were probably born at Camp Lester (the Navy base) as there isn't any inpatient units on Kadena.
I'm American but because I lived there from age 13-23, I consider it to be home to me so I'm really hoping my wife and I can go back. I miss Japan so much!

I became very immersed into the drifting culture. Love the food also, and I hate to say it but Japanese people are extremely kind and friendly compared to Americans in the US.
