Ive been on a mission the last 2 months or so to convert people at work to non smokers/ecig users. lately ive been buying kits off the classifieds on this forum from random people like 901s 510s ect and giving them to people at work and i tell them to just pay me for it if you like it. I make my own juice to i just mix them up a bottle of high MG nic to start them off with and give them a little starter bag.

So far ive converted 3 people 2 have completely stopped smoking and 1 i just gave him his kit today and will check back with him in a week or so. One of the guys bought a few 510 kits new and converted his wife also! he uses his all day at work and the other just uses it at home but hasn't touched a cig in over a month neither have!

So I figure im doing "my part" doing a "good deed" saving lives and medical bills down the rode! I do kinda force them a bit kinda a push so to say towards the light! haha

anyways thought id share /end

Last time I tried to help smokers, before I could even say much of anything besides "ever heard of the electronic cigarette", I was stopped in my tracks with, "my friend tried one and it made him sick, I don't recommend those" while he puffed on his analog. Oh the irony I thought, I proceed to continue talking and he just turned his head and started another conversation with someone else. Some smokers aren't interested at all. Made me feel very embarrassed and ashamed.

Good luck to you crackbag, glad there are some receptive smokers out there still.

I own a bar and one of my close friends got me started on vaping. From the two of us constantly doing it in the bar, we've convinced at least five of the regulars to stop smoking and start vaping. They're all using egos or 808s, but I've definitely piqued their interest with my Prodigy and my 5v box mod.
As far as sharing, I usually take a couple of extra cartos with me filled with tobacco or something fruity to let people try, but you do see a lot of smokers hacking after their first time hitting a high voltage device...

I have not had much luck converting smokers to vapers. My BIL thought it was too harsh.

At work, I was just showing it to one smoker who said he was trying to quit. He stopped me short with "My girlfriend had one of those. She said it tasted like cotton candy." I said well, I guess it could. You can get any flavor you want. But, that was the end of the discussion.

Another co-worker seemed very interested and seemed ready to try it, but his wife told him: "You are just trading one habit for another."

A female co-worker was very interested. Even asked me for a demonstration, where to order one, what brand, what juice, etc.
I recommended an Ego. Showed her how the carts are filled, etc. Cautioned her against the free trial offers. Told her about ECF, basically the whole shebang.

So, what does she do? Ends up ordering a POC E-9 with one battery. Complained that it doesn't produce enough vapor or throat hit, the battery doesn't last long, the cartomizers are expensive. Doesn't satisfy the craving, etc, etc.

Sheesh, I know she was just trying to get by on the cheap, but dam, you can't buy a Yugo and expect it to be a Buick.

So, I have pretty much quit trying to convert anyone.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink if there is gum in the fountain.

I haven't had much luck either. Lots of interest, but not many willing to take the final leap. I did help my CEO get into it, but I haven't talked to him in a couple months, so I don't know if he's still doing it.

I've only really had one bad experience talking about it, but that was with a non-smoker who couldn't comprehend that it wasn't smoke. She insisted that I had to quit vaping because her Uncle or some such died of lung cancer. I shrugged her off - drunk people at bars often use non sequiturs. :p

Here, there, everywhere!
Perfect post on a perfect day - Just this morning I ordered 4 Ego-T kits for 4 employess here at work!!!!! They paid me and I ordred!!! I had given them all 510's, cartomizers, chargers, juices etc. to try. Wanted to make sure they liked it before they spent money. Let them each try a clean tank on my Ego-T and they all love it even more than the 510! Woop Woop!!

I have yet to fully convert a smoker and have given up trying. When someone asks me what it is, I always explain it to them. And if they inquire about it I'll jot down this forum and some good vendors on a business card. But trying to "sell" it on someone has never worked for me. Most people seem to know about the e-cig before I even mention it. And they usually seem to already have in their heads that it isn't going to work for them. I guess until they start seeing commercials on tv and full page ads in magazines, most people just won't be convinced.

When I first started vaping at poker league, I almost got laughed out of the bar. Almost 2 years later, I can't go into the bar without at least 1 person wanting information. I don't give away e-cig kits as a rule, however as I found from working in e-cig retail, that when bought as a gift there is no vested interest and often it doesn't get used.

The exception to this is someone really interested in e-cigs and has spoken about wanting one...when given one they tend to do a bit better.

Now if I have a really good friend who wants to try vaping, but just doesn't have the money, I'll either loan a spare kit of my own to them or give them one I no longer use.

If I had someone come into the store to buy one for someone else, I always asked them to bring that person in themselves. More often than not, the "gift giver" goes for the least cost option, doesn't know the real smoking habits of who they are buying them for and they don't get used or the person comes back in for an upgrade.

Granted, the upgrades were good for business, but not everyone does that. A majority will just not like the gift, not use it, and tell people that e-cigs sucks.

So I guess, in general, I don't try to convert people. I answer questions and give information when requested, but from my experience I get the most interest from people who have seen that I've quit and am happy with it.

For example, I started using mine at the film studio I work at. Both the owner and producer thought they were cool (especially after 5 years of nagging me to quit). Close to a year after I'd been using mine in the office, the producer finally asked for information for his sister who is trying to quit. I think if I'd had tried to push it on him, I wouldn't have gotten the same response, but since he's seen that I no longer smoke, his interest was peaked.

Seems to me that smokers REALLY REALLY want to commit to vaping or they don't.

But not always.

I was a pack-a-day smoker, with no intention of quitting, and a friend gave me an eGo kit as a gift. I'd heard of vaping, of course, but the whole idea just sounded like it would suck -- heated vapor? Puh-leeze.

Anyway, I tried the eGo and was an immediate convert. It was better than smoking in just about every way. It came with 5 prefilled carts, which I drained in two days, and then discovered the variety of flavors I could get online. I haven't looked back.

It's one of the best things that anyone has ever done for me.

I buy and keep a few 510 disposables on me 510 Regular Flavor

When someone seems curious about my PV I tell them all about it.
If they really seem interested I give them a disposable, and tell them to go to ECF.

I don't just hand them out. They do cost a bit. I usually only have given them to people at work, or acquaintances.

Need to get some ECF cards......

wonderful comments! i think as soon as you get one converted the rest start considering it plus the ability to smoke it inside is a big turn on!

the other day at autozone i started talking to this lady that worked there she was outside smoking and i told her how i quit ect. then out of no where she started going on about how atleast shes not doing hard drugs ect. i was like yea true and stopped the convo there and walked away. so i did fail lol and i had a kit and would have given it to her but she was over the top

Some people don't want to quit, and don't want to hear about it.
Some people don't trust them fancy electronic gizmos.
Some people are just two bulbs short of a chandelier.

True on all points. I'd also add:

Some people already get enough flack about their behavior from people - no need to add to that, even if it's only perceived flack.
Some people don't want to try something new unless they think it's their idea.

I tend to just plant a seed and walk away. If they have any real interest in quitting analogs (never use that term in front of a smoker), they know where I am.

I've had lots of people ask me abt my PV's but I don't preach or try to convert, just simple answer all their questions honestly and let them know I'd be happy to answer any other questions they might have in the future. If they are really really interested I ask if they want to try mine and if they do I put a new atty/cart or cartomizer on mine and let them give it a try. I always have cards with me to give them with more information where they can do some of their own research. I do beleive strongly that the most likely to succeed are those that invest in the process themselves. Ive had one guy that tried out my Joye510, Ego, and Roughstack and the next day ordered his own Ego. He's a month into vaping and hasn't smoked a cigarette since the day his Ego arrived. Not sure if any of the others have bought their own PV's or not.
