Hi. I have posted a number of questions lately since I am so new to vaping. I thought I would post a number of them all at once to save time. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

1. I have dealt with several irreputable companies of late and have been ripped off twice. Has anyone dealt with Liberty Flight and tried their Rivo Carto ecig. Is it any good?

2. Why would I want to use an atomizer instead of a regular clearomizer or cartomizer? I am assuming their is a benefit or people wouldn't do it. What is the benefit?

3. What are the advantages (if any) of an eGo ecig?

4. Cartomizers are measured in ohms. When do you use one with higher ohms and when with less? I am not sure what the purpose of the measurement is.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! Welcome!

1. Have not dealt with either brand, but many have said positive things about Riva.

2. Clearomizers and cartomizers are built with atomizers. An atomizer is essentially the metal resistance wire that is wound into a coil which is then wrapped around some type of filler material that holds juice. Clearo's generally use amorphous silica wicks and these fall into top coil and bottom coil - Kanger, Nova, Vision are the big names here. Cartomizers are the tubes with polyfill around a center tube with the atomizer in the center. The polyfill is then soaked with ejuice and feeds the atomizer. Tanks are cartomizers in the center of a tank filled with liquid, the cartomizer is then punched with holes to allow liquid to constantly feed the polyfilll. The only atomizer I know that works on its own is when you drip (HH brand) - that is no material involved, just the coil and you drip juice directly on it. This was the big technique from the early days and many pioneering veterans here at ECF still do this.

3. eGo is actually a line of product made by a company called Joyetech. They have become so popular that any battery in this class is just called an eGo. The Riva I believe is similar, but a different brand. eGo batts can go from 400 mAh - 1300 mAh, generally mAh is 1 hour of run time per 100 mAh. These are excellent batteries. Some eGo's also come with variable voltage in the Twist model line. This let's you adjust voltage from 3.7 to 6 volts, I believe.

4. When using an eGo and standard clearos, cartos, tanks..etc you need not worry about ohms. Ohms are important for people with RBAs - Rebuildable atomizers and/or variable voltage devices. APV's are the Provaris, Vamos, Zmaxs - these are variable voltage and some with variable wattage. If you know the resistance (ohms) of your top, then you can use V=IR, to adjust your voltage and/or wattage to the resistance in your atomizer to produce the best vape for your experience. High resistance requires higher voltage but less power and lower resistance requires lower voltage and more power. I use Power (watts) on my Zmax and a 2.8ohm RBA

You can buy an eGo, one or two clearo/cartos and some juice and experiment. It's how I started when I moved beyond the KR808s ( the standard ecigs found at liquor stores and gas stations)

Thanks very much for your help! All these terms are confusing as hell when all you have been doing is lighting a cigarette for 20 years. There is more to it with this. I am glad the Riva has a good reputation. I bought one with two 650 mAh batteries which should do me for any given day. And it came with a rapid charger so I don't have to wait 8 hours to resume smoking after it goes dead. Once again, thanks for the info. Extremely helpful.

Be careful where you buy your ecig from. There are a lot of companies that are nothing short of scams. I have run across a couple of them, wasting money. One company I would recommend is Liberty Heights. They are based in the UK but have a U.S> office. They ship fast and their support guy is amazing when it comes to answering questions by email. Not many companies are patient enough to answer 5 questions in one day but this guy was.

Good luck.

No problem, it's what this forum is for! As long as we can all help each other from 'lighting' anything, we're on our way  If you see something, a product you want to try, check here first and I promise someone has already talked about it, vaped it and reviewed it. If you ordered that 650mAh kit from Liberty, you are well onto your way into a solid vaping experience. That's gonna be the battery with the carto tank system. It's sleek so you'll be able to carry it around and stuff.

It's funny because most start with the KR8081D and end up with the Mechanical Mods - Battery tubes with no circuitry at all so it's completely dependent on the user to check battery levels and what not, very advanced stuff, but in between the 808's and the mechs, there's about a 1000 different things to try and experiment with.

I wish I had known about this forum when I first got the bright idea to try vaping.

I got caught up with two companies that offered $4.95 starter kits (without clearly telling you it was going to be $100 later) or most recently, a company that is never available to answer questions when you run into problems. The battery I currently have is less than 200 mAh so I am constantly charging it. Granted, when I vape, I vape a lot. But I take individual puffs rather than sitting down to smoke the same amount as an individual cigarette. Anyway, money has been wasted. The only consolation (and it is my wife that pointed it out) is that it has been about 2 months since I bought a carton of cigarettes. So I have probably not spent any more money than I would have.

Hopefully my Riva will be the last for a while. I see they have a 900 mAh battery for $14.95. I might get that so I don't have to worry about charging all day. Any money I spend now I want to be on flavors of ejuice. I am kinda curious about what that's like. I have only tried two so far.

Hi, I'll answer some of your questions.
1. Have not dealt with those vendors, my go to guys are jesse and james from Mount Baker Vapors. I buy liquid, cartos and kangers from them. I did not buy my eGo from them so I wouldn't know about that.
2. People use atomizers to drip (I think ). An atomizer works pretty much the same way as a Caro but instead the filling material is on thr top so you can drop a little bit of juice instead. This way if you don't like the flavor you don't waste any juice nor do you have to clean your clearo/carto to get rid of the juice. If you want to drip, you also need a drip tip.
3.compare to an cig~ a~like? Better battery, more vapor, more choices between clearos, cartos and tanks. One of the best eGos out there is the spinner or the twister, they are both vv (variable voltage) which basically means you're able to change the flavor or amount of vapor if you change the voltage.
That's it from me, good luck :)
