i have 2...one for home one for the car. I run the one at home off of a wall wart in a power strip next to my chair...you will need at least a 1.5 amp wart.

I agree it's a great thing to have...especially for the car on long trips.

EXACTLY what grimwald said

Never tried a wallwart so I can't compare.......

Sorry, didn't mean to mess with you. The deal ( if you're not familiar) is that the PV is a straight Passthru. If something goes a little wacky with it, it'll mess up whatever you have it plugged into. Like directly into the motherboard of your laptop.

It's recommended to either use the wallwart or a desktop USB Hub. Ego users use these often also. I use Battery Passthrus, which are probably safer and use one of these Hubs which draws power from a wall outlet.

You definatly don't want to plug that into your computer. It needs a powered usb and needs at least a 2 amp draw. Thats well above most laptops. The seller states that it needs a powered usb and then later says plug into any usb.

Jeez, glad I read all this!!!!!! Guess I'll have to get a different set up going. Thx Guys!

Got one of these. They don't work with the wall plugs that come lumped together with the USB-chargers in the common starter kits.
Work ok on a computer ( not laptop ). But they're drawing quite some amperage so I'm not sure if it's not too much of a strain on the motherboard's circuitry. To pre-empt a cooked computer...

Plenty of room for additional chargers...

Those are the ones I use. They work great inthe house on a 2.5 amp walwart. I have 2 amp usb adapters in the car and they are not nearly as good. My problem with this PT is that the wire breaks at the head after a couple of weeks to a month but for the price I can get another.

Yup. Either one of those will work. As long as the Output is rated at 1.5 amps (1500 ma) or higher, it should give you all the power you need to run a passthrough. Here is one more option - Wall to USB Converter [Pass-Thru Ready]
