I've had a MVP 2.0 for a while and its starting to act up.

I'll be vaping and it will cut out, light flashes through all three colors, and the display flashes something akin to ancient Egyptian. This also resets the puff counter and sets volts to 3.0 and watts to 8.0.

Did this three times in the last 24 hours and has done it in the past.

I have however, started using generic coils from fasttech a few weeks ago.

Is my MVP dying?

Bought a mvp3.0 pro last night. Breaking the cardinal rule of vaping has been bothering me so this might be paranoia.

And the cardinal rule of vaping is???

My guess, "have backups for your backups"

And sorry to hear about the MVP, it's worth trying a better coil, but I don't think a short should make it reset like that.

mine did almost the same thing about a month before it quit accepting a charge and just cycled through the colored light show repeatedly sorry for the bad mojo man
Not a huge deal, I've had this for about a year and a half now. However my old ego vv spinners that I used before that are toast. No shelf life on the cheapos.
First guess would be a short from those coils. Try something with different coils for a while. If it still does it, it could be a short inside the unit or the grommet that the contact pin goes through is damaged and allows the pin to touch the metal around it.
I'll try some legit coils this week. Put in a new generic and switched to some new roar vapor juice. We'll see if/how many times it happens today.

Cardinal rule of vaping is always have backups and backups to your backups if possible, it's good that you bought a backup keep an eye on it might be nothing.
Winner winner. Seems like stuff is more reliable now then it was when I started. Wasn't uncommon to have 4-5 egos in rotation to ensure I had a few charged at all times.

Never left home without a tiny standard screwdriver so I could un smash the battery contact. Extra chargers and cartos everywhere, still ended up buying chew every now and then.
