I finally upgraded from my ego v v2 to an mvp 2 (very pretty iTaste pink with skull and swarvoski crystals!). I have a few questions:
Are you supposed to keep it on between uses? It's the only way to keep track of puffs so I'm assuming so?
I'm only getting on average 700 puffs per charge. It will stay green for 550 then yellow after 100 or so and then as soon as it turns red I only have a few puffs left. I was under the impression by the person at the smoke shop that when it turns yellow I should be getting the same amount of puffs as I did while green. She had hers at 900 and she said that it turned yellow a few days prior. Is it possible that I have a defective one?
I have a protank 2 on it. I'm using a 2.2 atomizer and vapeon at 3.3 and 6.0 power. Should I stick with the 2.2 or go down to 1.8? The flavor is great as it is but if I go up on power or go above 3.5 V I get a metallic taste.
Finally, what exactly does the power setting do? What are the advantages/disadvantages of a higher or lower setting? I've heard that people find a "sweet spot" with each juice so I'm just curious if I'm missing out on something by keeping it as 6.
Thanks!

I never owned an MVP but I did own the iTaste VV and experienced the same thing. My battery would last forever on green, then yellow and red seemed like they came far too quick. I don't think its because its defective, simply the way their made.

The 2.2 ohm atomizer is fine. Many people prefer to have a higher resistance atty when they have a VV mod because they can adjust it better. When you say power setting, I'm assuming you're talking about watts. Wattage is good if you change atomizers a lot and don't want to calculate out how many volts you're going to need.

I turn my MVP (and Other APV's) Off when I am going to put it in my Pocket. Or in a Bag or Something that I am Afraid the Power Button will get Accidently Presses. Frying my Clearo.

If I am using it at Home, I don't turn it Off at all.

The VW (Power Mode) sets the Watts (a Unit of Power) and then Adjusts the Voltage depending on the Resistance (Ohms) of your Clearo, Tank, or Whatever.

The Concept is if you like the Type of Hit you are getting at say, 8 Watts, that you can put another Clearo or Tank on your MVP that has a Different Resistance and it should be About the Same Hit.

In stead of Having to Adjust the Voltage (Volt Mode) for Each and Every Different Ohms that your Clearos or Tanks may have.

Welcome Sara :)

One thing I've learned with my MVP2s is when the light turns yellow, put it on charge - you really don't want to run it all the way to red. Don't remember the exact ranges, but yellow kicks on around 3.6-3.7V remaining on the charge, and that's pretty much when you want it back on charge.

When you run the MVP, you only run at Volts *OR* at Watts setting. One will decide what the other will be

Ohm's law: Volts = Amps * Resistance. Then, Watts = Volts * Volts / Resistance. When you pick volts, then the watts will set itself and vice versa.

If you're running at 3.3V with a 2.2 ohm resistance, the MVP sets itself to 3.3 * 3.3 / 2.2 = 4.95W. However, the minimum it can really do is 6w, so you backwards calculate and sqrt(6*2.2) = 3.6-ish volts.

Think of the volts setting as a "manual transmission" car, and the watts setting as an "automatic transmission" In Watts mode, the device will "change gears", i.e. set the volts, depending on what resistance you put on top.

Personally, I like my resistance between 1.7-1.9 ohms (I rebuild my own coils, so I can play in that range) and I'll run 7.5-8.5 W, depending on what juice I'm vaping.

The metallic taste might be in your mouthpiece, if you're using the stock drip tip on your Protank 2. I prefer the acrylic tips (I have a mini ProTank 2 along with a bunch of other toppers.)

"Sweet spot" is all subjective. Start low and work up little increments at a time. Once you start getting an undesirable taste, back off a bit, and that's *YOUR* sweet spot :)

I'm looking at a new MVP (maybe) - I like the shines - they're nice looking!

Some smarter people than I will likely be along - they'll pop in their expertise as well.....

P.S. I'm with zoidman - if I'm carrying in a pocket, I'll turn it off. I'll hold both buttons (P & U) to spot check resistance, and then see how much charge is left on, rather than hanging on the puff count. I'm kind of a "heavy" vaper, so the count is less relevant to me (and my draws are longer, so I have a lower count than you might experience.)

Yes, you can keep it on between uses (I've only turned mine off when it's going into my backpack or onto the shelf).

And as to the colors turning, it really depends on how you're vaping. With the devices I use with mine, I'm pretty much at 10-11 watts all the time, so the transition for me is kinda like
GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENYEEEEEEEEEEEELOWREEEEEDDEAD

If you enjoy the flavor at 2.2 ohms, there really isn't a reason to change. You can certainly experiment if you want to, but I wouldn't say you need to. :2c:

And the power setting. To oversimplify, the power setting controls how fast e-liquid gets vaporized in your device. Turn the power up, your atomizer gets hotter, more e-liquid turns to vapor.

Now, understand that every wick has its limits. It is the "straw" that pulls liquid into the coil area to be vaporized. It can only physically move so much liquid in a given period of time.

This is not exact, but think of it like this. Let's say that your wick can move 1 drop of liquid from the tank to the coil in one second. That is its maximum delivery speed.

At lower power, you are vaporizing less than what the wick can deliver, so the wick stays wet, and you stay happy.

Turn the power up TOO high, and you are trying to vaporize more than what the wick is capable of providing, so your wick will dry out and you'll get a "burnt hit". That could be that odd flavor you're talking about.

BTW - What is Your Cat's Name?

He goes by many names - Lucky, Chumley, or Bubba. Seems to answer to any of them LOL - he's my "special needs" boy - adopted him about 7 years ago after a 45 minute ride in the engine compartment of a pickup truck. He was a bit of a mess back then - all banged up. He's a pretty good kitty these days (for the most part ;))

Thanks so much! I think I understand what everyone is saying.
Basically if I'm happy with the amount of vapor at 6 then leave it alone. If I'm happy with the TH at 3.3 then I'm all set.

I do tend to take a full 10 second draw so my battery will not last as long, therefore I shouldn't use the puff counter as a guage to how my battery is doing. Instead I should look to charge my battery at 3.6V.
Right?
I'm still curious as to how the person that sold it to me had almost 1000 puffs and just turned to yellow and said that she had only used 50% of her battery left. Was she just a good salesperson and told me what I wanted to hear to sell it?

There really Isn't a Right or Wrong setting when it Comes to Variable Voltage. Or for Variable Wattage. Everyone is Different. And it all gets down to What You Like. And What works best with your Clearo/Tank/Whatever and your e-Liquids.

The Puff Counter thing is Relative. If you Take 10 Seconds Hits with the MVP set at High Voltage/Wattage, your Battery is Not Going to last as long as Someone how Takes 5 Second hits at a Lower Voltage/Wattage.

I think the Puff Counter is Kinda Silly. But Some Like it.

Once Again, it just gets down to what a Person Likes.

Perfect answer in color no less! The 3 color ranges are not broken down into 33.3 percent of full charge.
