I'm currently using a 2.5 Ohm coil and like it at 3.3 V or 6 Watts. I just tried it at 7 and it tastes strong and heavy, 7.5 watts tastes burnt to me. (currently have my Vision 2.0 clearo on it, but found this similar when I use my mini protank 2. If it's a concern, maybe it's not wicking properly for you? As I've been told when I first got my spinner, vape at what's right for you. If you prefer the smoother taste of the lower volts and watts, then go for it! Some say start at 8 watts and go from there, but for many of my juices, 8 is too harsh.

I mainly use 3.3 up to 3.5 volts on all my coils in PT2 and mini PTv2. I leave mine set on voltage as I've noticed constant needed changes tying to use wattage. Also have gotten the burnt taste using higher V or W. Where I purchased my MPV, the guy said he recommended 4V on PT2, but I found even that was too high. Good luck finding the sweet spot for your equipment.

I've had my MVP 2 for maybe a week. I'm mostly using EVOD's and mini Protanks with resistances ranging from 1.8 to 2.5, and I've found that on variable power I don't have to adjust it very much between different resistances. I'm mostly staying between 6.5 and 7.5 W. It also depends on the particular liquid, what temperature produces the best flavor. I've also been using the iClear30 that came with the MVP - it's 2.1 Ohms - I put a root beer flavor in it and it's been good at 6.5 W. BTW, when I first filled up the iClear, it was leaking like crazy - it seems like I can't fill it up over the 2.5 mL line or it will leak; has anyone else had this problem?

I also have some questions for MVP users - I got mine from FastTech, and I'm wondering if it's performing exactly the same as everyone else's: about how many puffs are you getting per full charge? I seem to be getting between 650 and 700. The battery meter starts out at 4.2 (green light), and I get past 600 puffs before the light turns yellow at 3.7, then I probably don't get more than another 50 puffs before the light turns red, the meter reads 3.2, and it shuts itself off. This seems kind of strange - is it normal? Also, these are minor concerns, but in the instruction book it says that when you hit the P and U buttons at the same time, it will show the atomizer resistance, the battery voltage, the number of puffs since turning it on, and the current Voltage or power setting - mine just shows the first two values. I can only get the number of puffs by holding down one button or the other for a second, and I have no way of checking whether it's currently on the VV or the VW setting. Also, the book says that when it displays resistance, it will show an "R" followed by the ohms reading - mine shows an "A" (presumably for "atomizer"). Just kind of weird. Also, even though the passthrough function works fine, the buttons and display usually will not do anything while it is plugged in.

Hi Matt L.

Some thing here. I've been using my MVP 2.0 for 5 weeks now, and have come to similar conclusions. I would also like to know if these are average values regarding performance.

With the iclear30, 1.5ohm resistance, I've been using it in VW mode (between 6.5 and 7 watts - that would correspond to a 3.12/3.24 volts drain), and get around 850 puffs on a single charge.

Regarding manual instructions about two button info, same here, just the two first values. When charging, I'm also unable to turn the device on or off with the three click action. I have to disconnect the usb cable, turn it on (or off) and vape. Some times it will read info and let me adjust mode settings, sometimes just wont do nothing.

Having said that, and been new to vaping, I'm also wondering if this is normal performance for the device.

Best regards,

Lobs

Hi Matt and Lobs.

You cannot change any settings nor turn your MVP on/off while it is charging. Charging disables all features and just allows you to vape, in case you need to, during the charge process.

If you are unable to go above 6.5 on a PT or Mini PT - either poor wicking is happening or your juice just burns easily. As long as you are happy with the taste, vapor and performance - the setting number being low-ish on the watts is irrelevant. As far as if it is possible to have volts set to high while you are operating in watts mode - No. You can use watts OR volts, not both at once.

As far as Lobs Iclear - 6.5-7 is a little low on a dual coil clearo like the Iclear30, but same info applies. If you are happy with flavor and vapor production then it is a non issue.

Hope this helps sort it all out some!

I have my doubts about the PTs, evods and iClears; they seem to have a hard time keeping up.

For full enjoyment, I use 3.0 ohm cartos in a tank at 8.5-9.0 watts.

    I agree with Creepy Lady.

If you want to vape at higher volts or watts you should be using higher ohm coils. Low ohm coils have an upper limit in volts/watts; use them with too much of either and your flavors are going to taste burnt.

Clearomizers only have tiny string wicks to bring the e-liquid to the coils. A moderate to heavy vapor can easily out-vape them, resulting in dry or burnt hits. Use only slow, longer, gentler puffs to allow the wicks time to keep up with you. Vaping is not like smoking an analog. Learn the proper technique for your devices.

Not all flavors will taste great at higher volts/watts. In fact, few of them will. I use higher ohm coils and never vape over 4.4 volts. Any higher and my flavors will taste burnt.

I never have understood why people seek higher voltage/wattage when in my experience that burns the majority of my flavors.

I think you might be buying into the hype (spread by all these mechanical mod people boasting they're vaping at 30-50+ watts). Most people, with pre-made tank systems, seem to say 6-8 watts (depending on the device, and the juice) is about the range they'll take and taste good.

With tank systems like iClear, Aerotank, Nautilus, Protank, etc., I'm usually at 6 watts no matter what...and actually want to go below that sometimes - which I've done but you don't get much vapor or taste going lower).

Just keep it low and you'll be fine.

i agree with Creepy and Baditude. i would just like to add that i use kangar T3's and Aspire BDC's exclusively on my MVP-2. As the coil in the T3's gets used more and more, you will notice, at least i have, that the resistance goes up when you are checking on the ohm meter. i realize this when i start to get no flavor or vapor (i'm a 70/30 guy) so i just knock up the watts another notch or two and it's good.

i have only changed out one T3 atomizer and i have one for each flavor i vape and they are at least 2 months old and still going strong. the iclear 30s that came with the unit leaked like a sieve and my local B&M worked on it until it stopped. weird.

otherwise i only use watt mode and the pass through when at home. just takes some fiddling with the 2 power ranges until you get to your perfect level. hope this helps.

    A few observations:

First, do not get confused, you can use the MVP 2 in either voltage or wattage mode...one does not affect the other. Remember with the MVP 2, it is whichever setting you last accessed (volts or watts) that is the mode you are vaping in.

Generally speaking, a 2.5ohm coil should vape pretty easily in the 6.0 - 8.0 watt range, but individual tastes vary! I have friends who vape at nothing below 8 watts, and more often in the 10 watt range...personally, 7.0 - 7.5 is my sweet spot for most ejuice flavors...as they say YMMV.

Coil resistance does indeed change during the life of the coil, usually going up in resistance over time. Due to the power settings on the MVP 2, you can fine tune a bit more with voltage, as it is in 1/10 increments, however, watts mode is more convenient of you are switching back and forth between different clearos/tanks.

It is true that some ejuice flavors hold up better/worse as your volts/watts increase. Again, in general, I find my tobacco flavors seem to vape well at higher power settings while more "delicate" flavors seem to retain their flavor better at lower settings. This has little to do with the "quality" of the ejuice, more a matter of the ingredients used for the given flavor.
