Hi MLT (Ducky),

Seems like people come and go a lot here. How are you today. A great Lazy Day, huh?

I'm doing well! Thanks for asking :D Yes, a perfect lazy day!! Even made a blended mocha AND an orange cream smoothie earlier, then sat on my azz watching estrogen tv and playing "w/Friends" games on my iPod, all the while still in my pjs, snuggled under my brand new gifted 1000 thread-count sheets. Life. Is. Good.
EDIT: Forgot to say I'm snuggling with my 80-lb heating blanket, Xavier ;)
How are you, VG??

It's all good, Morri :) I'm never sick, I get debilitating migraines, but I don't get ill. I don't let myself. ;)
Right now I'm neither ill nor sick nor suffering a headache, actually I'm sipping another homemade Orange Julius and watching Monster In-Law! I hope your meds start being helpful soon!!!

VG, I can't hang out in a thread longer than it takes to post. Watching dust settle is more entertaining. LOL!!!

My laptop died a month or so ago, and it's not in the budget to replace it. Yet. I'm hoping I'll run across that elusive money tree here shortly. Hahahahahahaha!!!

Hi Aurora!!!

Ducky,

What's wrong with the Laptop? If it still comes On at all, maybe I can help.

When I turn it on it won't boot up, it says something about no bootable disk and something about a cable unplugged or something. I'll have to get it and turn it on to remember exactly.

EDIT: Here's what the black screen shows and stops at:

Intel UNDI , PXE-2.1 (build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.5(01/22/09)

Check Cable Connection..!
PXE-E63: Error while initializing the NIC
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE-ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

That can be fixed easy I bet, sucks you are so far away from me or I could help! Kinda hard to help with that issue without having the laptop in hand though. Usually, well it sounds like this, normally that simply means some data got corrupted on the hard drive and the boot loader needs corrected or replaced, which is easy to do in person.

It could also be as simple as in incorrect BIOS setting, sometimes if the CMOS gets cleared, the boot drive order isn't set properly. Do you know how to go into the BIOS on that? If so, go in there and look for hard drive boot order and make sure the hard drive is set to be first in the list at the top. This is different than the 1, 2, 3 boot order preference setting, so make sure you look for something similar to hard drive boot order (Must say hard drive), that's the one you need to make sure your hard drive is set first in.

If that is set correctly already, then it's probably just the boot loader for the OS needs repaired. What is the OS, and do you have the install disk? If so, I may be able to show you a guide to help you repair the boot loader.

It's a Netbook, so there's no disk. There was a memory card with some programs on it but that's not what we need.

I'm not technical enough to do what you suggested about getting into the BIOS.

I just really, really, really hope I didn't lose all my pictures and music. Next month I'll be visiting faraway family and friends, one of whom is a computer programmer, and has offered to work whatever magic he can on it. But until then I have my iPod and wifi and hope beyond hope that my iPod is slowing down only because facebook mobile's most recent update is a POS. ;)

Sounds like maybe the Memory Card (if there really isn't some kind of Hard Drive) was damaged or corrupted. Sounds like it's defaulting to the Network 'cause it can't boot from the proper device.

I've never worked on a Netbook. Sorry I can't be of any real help. Hope your Programmer can fix it for ya. Best of Luck to you, Ducky.

And thanks for trying to help, Aurora. Maybe you still can.
