Happy Xaviar-day all! :)

Hey Disconnect,

Your signature says you're an eVic user. I had one that broke and had to be sent back (to a different vendor - not MVS). Just wondering how you like yours. I loved mine, and want the new one in Shiny Silver with the 3400 mAh Battery.

Love it. (I think I'd be almost as happy with most well-designed VWs though.) I go back and forth between the evic and the imotion (from a contest) and the evic does 3 things I love:
- Easy automatic atty resistance (displays when screwed on, and on the top left)
- Easy VV/VW adjustment (no "tapatapatapa" to get into menus, etc.)
- VV/VW heating profiles (I have a couple of attys that need to preheat so instead of holding-and-waiting I just programmed an initial spike into the profile)

On the "nice to have" features, the battery meter is decent (but it doesn't drop linearly - the last 30-40% goes FAST, probably because it has to boost the voltage.) The venting setup seems a lot safer than the imotion - if the imotion starts heating up I'm gonna try to unscrew the cap (until it is too hot to hold) and then I'm gonna throw it over the horizon and yell "BOMB!" With the evic, the venting holes are a lot better and I'll probably try to save the head - again, if its not super hot yet - and either way just drop it on bricks somewhere and wait for it to finish flaming out.

It is light and fluffy feeling, but I've dropped it (er, kinda a lot..) and it has no issues. I'm looking around for an ego-t 18350 battery tube to shrink it down for evening trips. (I did stop using the built-in charger in favor of a nitecore i4.)

I haven't synced it since I last adjusted the profiles and I never run it in VV (either VW or profiled-VW.)

The annoying issues are that it powers off when solidly bumped, or when the 510 is pushed down too hard. (The auto-sleep annoys people but that is easily changed in the software or from the menus..) The 6V cutoff also bugs some people but I run standard/LR so it doesn't affect me. (Some of my out of spec attys might be better under 3V but they're ok at 3, so..) The menu layout is odd. device holds atty info, but configure holds battery settings, temperature and so forth.

Not sure you wanted quite that much info, but there ya go :)

Great eVic Write-Up, Disconnect!!!

I had the v1.1 on mine. The new VaporTrain VW settings sound great. I never dropped mine, but it's good to know the Aluminum Casing holds up well. Mine never got Hot, either. I use the Vivi Nova with 1.8Ω Coils. The problem I had was that it stopped charging the Batteries to 100%. It would charge up to 97%, and the adjust between 94% and 97%, up and down and up and down, over and over. It worked OK like that at first, but then it started shutting itself Off - not Standby, but Off. I was fortunate to get a Full Refund, w/o a Restocking Fee. I wanted a Replacement, but was given a Refund.

For the Shorty Tubes, just Google "ego 18350." They are available, but I haven't checked in a while to see if any are from USA sites - many are from China.

That evic issue sounds like a bad battery. Might have been overdrained/overcharged at some point. (Looks like MVS has the replacement batteries for $12, although they are sold out.) That is part of why I switched out to using the nitecore i4 instead of the evic for charging - there is no way it can provide the correct voltage off USB..

I found the tubes at a couple of vendors, but they are out of stock on the batteries I need (limn 18650 and 18350) and other bits and pieces so I'm holding off for now. (And I can't find standard size DC stainless cartos @ mvs, but I'm still looking. 4 carts open from different vendors, comparing prices/shipping/etc.. whee..)

ETA: I would throw money at any vendor who shipped a few cases of cartos and misc parts to amazon to sell w/ amazon prime.. just saying.. :) I'm tempted to do it myself this spring if nobody else does..

Well, No, I don't think it was all Batteries. Pretty sure it was the Control Head.

I bought the eVic and a Spare 2600 mAh Battery from another vendor (not MVS). The battery that came in the Box with the eVic charged and worked perfectly the first time. I put it in and used it for a while because I was excited to have it. Used it down to about 43% and charged it. Went to 100%. Used it for a while and thought... let me use and charge the Spare. Put it in, uncharged, and used it down to about 40% and charged it overnight. Came back in the morning and it was doing the up and down thing. It all went downhill from there. The original Battery was doing it too after that. Not even 3 days old.

It may have been that the Spare started the troubles, but the eVic Head was effected as well. Sad story for such a great Mod. But since I had to return it, and I found that it was being released with v1.2 and a 3400 mAh Panasonic, I decided to wait.

Been Vaping on a Home-Made USB Passthrough I made from Burned Out eGo-T Batteries, in a 1000 mAh Battery Tube. The Circuit Boards were burned out, so I removed it from one of them, ran a USB Cable through the Switch Button Hole, soldered that to a 30W Switch mounted in the .... Plate, running (+) from the USB Cable to the Switch and then to the 510 Connector, and soldered (-) to the 510 on the inside. Connected that to a Computer Power Supply at 3.3V. I'm tethered to a USB Cable, but it's working great. I can connect my Vivi Nova and Vape my Brains out. A little messy, with Brain Sludge everywhere, but I'm good with it until I get something better.

I can even be Mobile with it in the Car. I took another smaller Power Supply, connected a USB Plug into 3.3V, and I run that in the Car from a 120VAC Inverter that plugs in to the Cigarette Lighter, running off of 12V. Other than that, I'm having to rely on gasoline-station e-cigs when out in town. I really miss my eVic. Wouldn't it be great if MVS put one up in the next Contest?!!!

Gotta run for a while. TTYL.

Be -really- careful with that. If you draw more than 500ma you can blow the usb port (or the entire motherboard).. Better to use a wall charger - if you do blow it, it is a lot cheaper to replace..

It's OK.

My Computer USB runs it a little Hotter than I like at 5V, but it must supply about 1.5A.

I run it like this...

This Power Supply is turned On with a Power Supply Tester (the Green LED thingy), and this, and the E-Cig tied in to 3.3V, are the only things that are drawing Power.

Oh ok, thats a little different :) An -actual- computer power supply. That is quite a setup. Doesn't look very portable though!

No, it's Not portable. That's why I have a 2nd, smaller Power Supply rigged up in the Car.

Gotta Run. TTYL Disconnect. And thanks for your concern about my Safety. I built this thing really Safe, with lots of heavy Heat Shrink on all the Wires and Solder Joints.
