I think most eliquid sweetener is just sucralose.
but I could be wrong

Hi CC,

I really don't know anything about it, other than that I have been told that Sugars cause Gunking, so I'm sure that a good source for the Sweetener is desired. I mean to say, a Sweetener with the least issues for an Atomizer. Hoosier (I think) said that even the Sugars in Bacardi 151 (or really any Rum) will cause Gunking.

What does juice taste like without sweetener? Is it really bad?

With artificial sweeteners being so bad for a person, I would kind of like to get away from them.

I'm with you sky, artifical sweetners scare me. I used to drink alot of Diet Pepsi but I stopped because of the aspartame. The problem is I love sweet vapes. VG is naturally sweet so it might be an option to go straight VG with some distilled water to thin it. Then again, who knows how great VG is for you.

When an 'all natural' pet food company runs a big ad campaign on the fact that they do not have PG in it... I'm glad I use all VG bases in my DIY stuff... :D and get mostly VG pre-made stuff whenever I can!!

And for a sweetener, I use something called 'Sugar Cream' (not to be confused with 'sweet cream') because I can taste the artificial stuff in some of the juices I've had and it's nasty!! :p

But the High Caliber VG juice that MVS sells is really good, and has very little PG in it... just in the flavoring. I don't know how some places can say something is 100% VG, unless they are using all VG flavorings...

Plus I love that MVS has full disclosure, and is honest about what they are selling!! :thumb:

Hi Sue,

Please let everyone here know what you learn. Stevia, Splenda, and EZ Sweet from Morri, and anything else.

Have you tried the Cotton Candy?

Maybe something else you can do is do a search the Internet for E-Liquid Recipes that you know would be Sweet, to see what others are using. People like to post their Recipes, so maybe you'd run across something else to Research for your purposes, to see if it's something you'd like to use.

I vape mainly 100% VG eliquids and I've tried adding ethyl maltol sweeteners in my eliquids but sometimes it seems to need more PG than I like.
I recently started adding the cotton candy (which is mainly EM sweetener, just already made into "cotton candy" flavor eliquid). I still haven't had a chance to find out anything about adding Stevia. I have some TPA sucralose and tried it a few times, but not sure I like it. It seems to add an "off" flavor.

I like sweet vapes, but trouble is...I get extremely dry mouth if they have too much PG.

I have found that dark eliquids "gunk" up my atty and clearos, and maybe it's because of the "sugars"...not sure!

I still have lots of experimenting to do with DIY but it's fun trying different things.

Yeah, and I don't do that well with a lot of VG. Seems to get to my lungs.

I think I remember reading that PG (like chocolate) is actually rather toxic for dogs. Cats as well.

That's if I am remembering correctly.

I'd have to say that what it tastes like Unsweetened would depend on the E-Liquid Base (or Bases if it's a VG/PG Mix). VG is naturally Sweet tasting. I find (to me at least) that PG tastes Oily, and Smells funny, or at least the things I had before DIY did. However, it's not just the Sweeteners to be concerned about, but anything Artificial, like the Flavorings, too!!! As far as "bad for a person," this is why you need to be sure the Flavorings are Natural.
Would I Vape something that's Green and Glows in the Dark? NO!!! But to each his own.

And the E-Liquids should be USP, which is the only E-Liquid that that is said to be "Intended for Inhalation." If it says USP, but also Food Grade, this is a Marketing thing... it's USP, so it can also be sold as Food Grade (a lesser Grade). The Best VG for DIY will also say Medical Grade. It's a Purity thing.

Well, we are the Guinea Pigs in this experiment, but we have AEMSA working for us now. And for however bad it might be, IMHO, it's so much better than a Cigarette. And of course, the same should be said for PG. Though it is also my opinion, VG is better; more natural - or at least it was, until I learned that many (if not most) VG products are made synthetically now too. VG made Natuarally from Vegetables can still be obtained. And I like the natural Sweetness and Coolness (cool as in not Hot, as opposed to Menthol).

<snip> I don't know how some places can say something is 100% VG, unless they are using all VG flavorings...

I can't say this about ALL E-Liquid Vendors, but some of those that I looked at months ago, who said 100% VG, were using Organic Flavorings and all 100% VG Liquids, with Distilled Water when requested for Thinning, so there was no PG, or anything else like Atrificial or Alcohol-bases in the Upper-Line products. Guess I'd have to say, look for that.

Many Flavorings I've seen, if not Artificial, are extracted with and/or suspended in Alcohol or PG, so they really shouldn't be counted in this discussion, but I don't know if anyone makes VG Flavorings. To me, the Extraction Process is just as important.

However, these are only my opinions - not true advice. I must yield to people like Sue and others who have been experimenting, as I haven't taken the Flavoring Plunge yet - I've only done a lot of Reading and Studying on it, for when I'm ready to start.

All you can really do is Educate yourself, and make the Best and Safest Choices you can, for every aspect of your E-Cig Experience... and keep Learning. Sorry I get so long-winded.

It is safe for dogs. Only cats have issues..

The good news is, VG and PG (as you said, only inhalation grade) has been used successfully for decades to suspend inhaled medicines for people with compromised breathing. The flavorings are a whole other animal though, and "natural" doesn't necessarily mean safe (even when it isn't just a label.)
