afternoon everyone,

Just wanted to share my experience with making my 1st coils. A few weeks ago i got the petri rta and ive been using the coils that came with it. This morning i decided to try my luck with making my own coils.

My local store suggested that i get a small spool of 26 ga nichrome to start off with and to get a small coil master kit. I watched a ton of youtube videos but those made me more scared to try. Most of the videos use drills to do special twists and i Didnt want to start doing that right now. I decided to do 10 twists at 3mm, my eleaf ipower 80w registeres the resistance between 0.56 at one point it went up to 0.91.

After setting up the wicks. I loaded some Ruthless Mandingo juice and went outside. I learned quicky that the wattage wont be the same as the pr built coils that came with the petri.
These coils vape great betwern 20w and 30w. Above those numbers it becomes really harsh. Also at 20w im still producing big clouds and the flavor is great.

Next time i may try 8 turns instead of 10.
So i just eanted to say to those that are scared to jump in that making coils can be really easy.

This pic is of the coils that came with the box. These had a resistance of 0.18 and i could vape up to 60w with no harshness. Also im not seeing a big difference in taste. Im very happy with the taste with my coils at 20w, that is what im very intreagued by, the difference in resistance and taste. How can a advanced coil vaping at 60w give the same taste as a basic coil at 20w.

Thanks for reading :)

There is a big difference between nichrome and kanthal. Nichrome heats up alot faster and has less impurities in the metal so you get better flavor and because of the faster heat up you need less power to achieve a good vape. I could go into all the technical stuff but with you just starting making coils I won't. You might also like 316lstainless steel wire it also heats more even and more quickly then kanthal. After I started building with it my kanthal just sets there now.

First let me say get a good coil building app. I use one called vape tool. That will help you hit your target ohms rating. One a spaced coil you get more airflow across your wicking material and it creates better flavor and a bit cooler vape a tight wrapped coil will build more heat in your wicking. This creates more vapor which means more clouds. If I am wrong maybe someone will correct me but that has been my experience between the 2.

Vape Tool is definitely the way to go. I use it almost daily.

Unfortunately it has been letting me down lately since it doesn't support braids and that is what I have been focused on learning. So it has been complete guesswork on how many wraps to do to get within the .1 and up range that most of my regulated mods cut off at.
