My 1st vape ever! 510, yucky taste, nic od.

Day 1

I had finally received my first PV, the JOYE 510 with with medium Rich Tobacco flavor Ecopure (VG) liquid.

I assembled it according to the video on the Innovapor site and took the first 5 second drag, no vapor. 2nd drag a little more vapor. 3rd drag there it was. I suppose it will be like this with every new atty.

I have to say i didn't really like the taste that much but it wasn't repulsive until later. It had a weird sticky, sweet kinda taste, hard to describe.

I rigged one up for my grandma because i want her to convert and vaped with her for a few mins until she got the hang of it. I then went around the house showing everyone my new toy. All the while topping it off. Problem was i wasn't feeling the nicotine yet. After about 1/2 hour of vaping 8 pufts every 10 min or so the nicotine hit me. I felt a little faint and got a slight stomach ache.

About 1/2 hour later i wanted an analog. I repeated this process of only vaping in 10 min intervals for about 1/2 hour longer. Then i got really sick. I had a 20 min coughing attack. I got the chills really bad, very cold feet and hands for about 2 hours. Felt sick to my stomach, muscle tension throughout my body, really bad headache and about 30 mins of a really rapid heart beat.

All i could do was lay in bed for about 3 hours. My body warmed up i started to relax and slept for the night.

Day 2

I woke up and couldn't beleive i had nicotine od. I felt like such a bonehead! It reminded me of having to learn my alcohol tolerence. I could smoke about 6 analogs in a row and not have this happen.

I was really sore from the muscle tension and felt fatigued, kinda like a hang over. Instead of having my morning cigarette i took 5 puffs off the 510. I felt a little queezy and still wanted my morning smoke. I refrained. I still have a headache and a hangover feeling.

I really want to stick with this but the problem i see is that i'm not getting the immediate nicotine rush i use to get off the first couple of drags of an analog so i keep vaping until i feel it and by then i have had to much nicotine. I also noticed a nasty sweet burning taste from the atomizer after about 15 puffs. Perhaps i'm overfilling the atty.

As far as taste i want something that is smooth, VG based that doesn't have that sweet sticky taste.

I'm not going to give up! There should be e cigarette counselors for newbies or a 24 hour hotline. Ha Ha. I guess thats what you helpful people are for.

Suggestions please.

Sounds like VG might not be fore you... MOST of the first experences with vaping consist of prefilled carts of some sort of tobacco flavor with PG. Innovaper carries ECOpure and includes them in thier starter kits. MOST other suppliers of ecigs starts ppl off with PG (Which I can not vape myself). To me, doesnt sound like you over did the nic really... Might just be a reaction to VG.

The taste that you'll get off of your 510 for the first few days will be a not so pleasant one. The primer that the atomizers come with is just nasty. It'll eventually wear off and you'll be enjoying the sweet tastes of whatever flavor you choose.

My suggestion is to keep at it - VG may not be your thing, you may want to try some PG. You can have an allergy to VG just like you can with PG. Just give it another day or two, your pallet, as well as your system, will get used to it.

Vape on.

Oh, and as for the burning taste pop off your cart and make sure there are no lil hairs of the cart filler stuck to the atty, that will make for a burny taste. 15 puffs on a 510 (with the polyfill stuffing it comes with it) is pretty good, once you get into vaping more there are more options out there to use for cart filler

Ahhhh, little hairs stuck to the atty, there they are. Yes i was pretty clumsy with the wool filling.

Thank you rocket scientist.;)

Thanks for the advice. I thought VG was more user friendly. I hesitate to using PG because i'm recovering from illness and have to go to physical therapy. I don't want anything that is going to interfere with lactic acid.

Perhaps i'll try some PG my next order. I like the idea of VG better isn't it suppose to be better on your system. I'm going to do an extensive VG search.

Thanks again.

Your mom said not to say...
PG is used in many products that we use everyday, as long as they are using USP grade and not industrial grade it should be plenty safe. Your not the first to ask this and there have been a couple of MSDS sheets put up here along with info from Dow Chemical about it. That said, some people do have a reaction to PG, I was of the opinion that one was more likely to have a reaction to PG than VG. I could be wrong on that last statement, but I really don't think I am. It could be just a matter of adjusting your nicotine level as well. If your not getting the satisfaction that you want in the shorter doses try a higher level nicotine. It will hit you faster and you will feel it.

Nowheregirl,

Its sounds like you and your juice don't get along. Since you don't like the taste, and may have a bad reaction to VG I'd suggest ordering something different.

On my first day I found the tobacco flavor a little too sweet as well. The sweetness stays on my lips. I've gotten used to it and am using "Marlboro 24mg" from Awesome Vapor.

I have also found that the nicotine is not quickly delivered as in cigarettes. I've upped my juice to 24mg, and it still takes twice as long as a real smoke would. E-cigs seem to be a little bit like booze. The effect is at least 10 minutes behind you. Just like drinking, you don't want to go too fast.

A great idea floating around is to have 2 e-cigs setup at once. One with a medium (for you) amount of nicotine, and another with 0. If you want to vape for fun, or need to out of habit you can switch to the 0mg. You should be able to pull this off with 3 batteries.

Since the PV is slow acting, I try to use it when I first start to feel an urge to smoke. If I wait more than 2 hours or so it is frustrating, and I feel I can't be satisfied. The 24mg juice is helping with this.

Question.... How heavy are your cigarettes, how intensely do you smoke them? How often do you smoke them?

Now... are you using the 510 the same way as the cigarettes? or are you going crazy with it since its new?

I've seen similar problems with smokers who switch to heavier or lighter cigarettes too. If they go lighter they smoke more often. If they go heavier they smoke the same amount and feel ill.

Let us know how it goes, and how we (I) can help.

When I get a new atty I always blow it out first, from the battery end, then use a tissue and gently push it into the atty to soak up any primer. After doing that I add 3 drops of one of my stronger flavors and start vaping. Since I've been doing it this way I don't get the funky primer taste anymore.

Sorry I can't help with suggestions for your reaction to the juice. I hope you can find something that works for you quickly.

Thanks for your suggestions and info. I hope i'm not allergic to VG and i'm going to up my nicotine level but vape less often.

Hi
Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water.
If you check out the page link at the bottom of this post there are links to more e-cig info... specifically check out the page on withdrawal symptoms from cigs.
No one has ever researched withdrawal from JUST the other stuff in .... logs other than the nicotine.... but there's really good info on that link that can help you.

Some of what I experienced was borderline what you've experienced. I found the 'every 10 minutes... if more than 1-3 vapes... was too much.

You don't mention nic level on your juice.
Trying low nic for most vaping and higher nic 'occasionally' - a couple times an hour or even just a few times a day - can help.

There's no set way to do this - and figuring out what works for you takes a bit of time.
Go easy - DRINK WATER -ro flush your system... you're detoxing from many poisons.

and personally I can't 'do' VG at all - it's also used in suppositories for constipation and apparently my system reacted by relieving constipation I didn't have.

All the best to you -

Thanks for your input,

I don't think it was withdrawl because every so often i have to go an entire weekend w/o smoking and all i get angry, anxious aggitated. No physical symptoms really.

I'll try PG next time. I just don't want to have muscle cramps because i'm about to undergo a very intense physical therapy. I can't have anything interfere with the therapy because my future depends on it's success. This is another reason why i want to quit smoking. I'll give the PG a try and vape only when necessary.

Thanks again,

I really need a signature.

I guess I can offer a little personal experience with the PG and physical therapy thing. My husband has 1.5 hours of PT at least 3 times a week and so far he has not had any kind of reaction or problem with the lactic acid thing. I vape PG and do home therapy and so far it hasn't effected me either. I do drink a gatorade everyday for the potatsium (sp?) and take a B12 and vitamin D everyday.

The lactic acid buld up is very minimal as long as you drink water or gaterade anything like that.... I go to the gym 5 days a week and havent had any problems

Sure sounds like it.

You won't get a nicotine rush from these things unless you use some really high nicotine juice.
And personally, I haven't had a nicotine rush in about 20 years, even from real cigarettes.

If you really want some sort of nicotine rush, then get some really high nicotine liquid.
And maybe have a drag or two of that and then go back to lower nicotine.

I also noticed a nasty sweet burning taste from the atomizer after about 15 puffs. Perhaps i'm overfilling the atty.
Sounds a bit more like the atomizer getting dry to me.

As far as taste i want something that is smooth, VG based that doesn't have that sweet sticky taste.
Yeah, I don't really like Ecopure myself.
They all have some sort of marshmellow taste lingering in the background.

But it does mix really well with other juices to add more vapor.
In fact I mix about 20% Ecopure with my Tennessee Cured for that very reason.

In lower doses, the marshmellow flavor doesn't really stand out to me.

Yes,

Ecopure = marshmallow taste.

I couldn't put my finger on it.

I don't know why but mixing is a little intimidating to me. Not sure why, I guess i just don't want to get the stuff on my skin.

You can get yourself some "surgical" type gloves from Walgreens if you are worried about it, but generally speaking, most of the stuff we encounter (say, 24mg and below) isn't nearly as dangerous as pure nicotine which can kill you on contact. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say we all get a little juice on our hands from time to time. It is the nature of the beast so to speak. Just be sure to keep it away from pets and children and wash your hands if you do get juice on them.

LOL don't lick the juice. :D

A side note:

Years ago I found that Benson & Hedges Gold gave me a stomachache. Other brands of cigarette do not. Some amount of the ingredients are swallowed even though you don't intend to. It builds up in your mouth.

If you think an E-cig is making you sick I would stop using it right away and get to the bottom of it. If you have a doctor you may want to consult him / her.

Next best thing would be to research online from a respected medical source. The posts here regarding nicotine are based on people's personal experience not professional experience. Much of the information is confusing, and plenty of it is downright false.

Over the counter drugs which are "safe" have a whole bunch of side-effects and warnings. E-cigarettes have no such warnings but that doesn't mean they don't have side effects or potential dangers.
