Hello,

I just thought I would introduce myself and share a little story with whoever wants to read.

I quit smoking about 5 weeks ago and switched to e-cigarettes. I am now liking more e-cigarettes than analogs. How to I know? Well here's the story...

I went to a local(ish) market and this guy was selling them. Since he let me try one, I knew this was my solution to stop smoking the tobbacco, tar, 4000+ nasties etc...

Nobody told me how flimsy these things could be and especially nobody told me how to take care of my product. I think what I bought is known as the model RN4081 supermini.

One day after nearly 3 weeks of ecigs, my atty died and I had no backup. I smoked for 3 days which on day 2 I needed menthols as I thought normal cigarettes tasted aweful and menthols is all I could tolerate. I bought 2 more as he was selling £10.00 (bargain) so I would have a normal on the go and a backup.

Still not knowing how to take care of my product one of my batteries went dead. (Don't charge them overnight!) I started reading on other things like mods, passthroughs etc...very interesting!

Battery number 2 was dying on me Tuesday morning and I knew I had to react fast. I didn't order another kit until last minute but I was trying to understand the technology behind attys and passthroughs. Today my battery died this afternoon. Last night, I tore apart a old battery and was about to hook up a USB cable to the atty and using the RN4081 casing as the ground. SUCCESS!! I didn't have a button so at the moment until I go get one, I just got a loose contact point on the ground to break the connection but I AM SMOKING!!

I am so glad I didn't have to go back to normal cigarettes... Sooo disgusting.. don't ever want to go back.

Thinking outside the box, I remembered I had a USB powered solar charging battery!!! Excellent!! I am connecting this to my USB passthrough! I can smoke with a solar battery! Hahaha! I am beaming!

Sorry if this is boring to some but I am excited and wanted to charge in my bit of pride.

Take Care!

Any questions on detail of what I've done, let me know. I'm happy to help.

Cheers!

One happy Dan!:vapor:

Hello & welcome Dan from another UK e-cig user :D

Sounds like you have done really well - especially if you are using a RN4081 super-mini :)

Hope when you said the guy was selling the atomisers for £10.00 that price was for 2?

It is 2 full e-cigs (1 battery, one atty, one usb charger, 5 carts plus a case) x 2

If you know any cheaper.. I'd like to know where you shop... At the moment I am looking at buying from eastmall.net since I've discovered it... Long times for dispatch though...

Thanks Chrissie!

That's not a bad price Dan :)

I started off with a super- mini RN4081 over 3 years ago (several months before \i joined ECF) - so little choice back then, but there are now so many better models. For instance a Riva 510. I now mainly use a GGTS - a tad different in size to say the least :D

If you are looking to buy from China, Eastmall is good & IMHO Health Cabin even better :)

As for UK vendors, we are so lucky to have so many good ones - here's a list of highly recommended UK vendors -

All about e-cigarettes - Recommended & new suppliers (e-cig/juice sellers)

Hi Chrissie,

I've looked at the health cabin and I am scratching my head to see what you like better of this place? Dont get me wrong. It seems a good place. I am just wondering what you find is better? BTW I am getting a 510 model from Eastmall that should be with me on Mon/Tues. Cant wait until I try it with my assortment of new flavoured e-juices!! :) I feel I shouldn't be so excited about ecigs but I am. Afraid it's going to be a while before I quit. At least I can turn down the level of nicotine at will :)

Cheers!

What I've found better is customer service. Eastmall's is good, Health Cabin's is even better :)

Congratulations on quitting the analogs! I probably would've blown myself up trying something like that but the solar power seems kinda interesting. Is this a technology that modders are considering? Nice backup for people like myself who are on constant rotation. So glad you were able to get hooked up!

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ink-solar-mod-come-get-me-now-hurricanes.html

Solar is not efficient enough to directly power an e-cig, but has occasionally been used as a sort of built in slow charger to help the batteries last longer per charge.

Solar power is not really what runs the battery. It only charges by solar so really if you were stuck and your battery died, you might be stuck wishing for a couple sunny mornings till your next vape! LOL... I think it might charge under non-natural light but I'm not clued up on the specs. I think they sell FREELOADER batteries in UK, US, CANADA, etc...

Don't forget WINDUP charging!!! :p
