My Brain Hurts~~~This Noob Needs Help!

Ok, so I first heard about e-cigarettes about a week ago & have been googling for info in my spare time~~~only problem is, seems the more I read, the more  I get! ( If any of my questions/concerns have already been addressed elsewhere in this forum I apologize for that, I just don't have the time to read as much as I'd like & I really, really want to get started in my new life as a "vaper"!)

I just registered an hour ago & I'm very impressed with this forum...it feels like a friendly & down to earth place with knowledgeable members galore. Me, I'm a long term smoker( 2 packs a day ) & until I learned about these e-cigarettes I honestly couldn't imagine myself ever being able to quit. It's not just the nicotene, it's the whole ritual, the "feel" of it all & a patch on my arm or a piece of awful tasting gum in my mouth just wouldn't cut it! Well, on to my questions;

1) I'm a Canadian & there seems to be conflicting info about the actual status of e-cigarettes here. (Totally absurd!) But how can I find out which companies will ship e-cigs to Canada? Or a good company IN Canada?

2) I did find one company, called "Instead", who sell e-cigs in Canada. They sell this "starter" kit (no nicotine) but don't really give much info about it. I emailed them to ask them what model they sell in this kit & they said their model " was compatible with the RN4081 and the DSE101 and some parts compatible with the DSE103". Does anyone here know anything about those models?

3) Since the liquid cannot contain any nicotene here in Canada, I was thinking that I could still use an e-cigarette by using it along with wearing a patch....any thoughts on that, or have any of you tried that?

4) I really dislike artificial flavors & am somewhat leery of this "liquid" sold with the e-cigs. Does anyone here make their own liquid, & if so, what ingredients are necessary?

5) The model I was thinking might be best for me to begin with is the 510....but is that available to Canadians?

Well, that's about it for now. If there are any Canadians here who have managed to figure it all out I would love to hear from you! I would be happy to hear from anyone here who can shed a bit of light on this~~~I am SO eager to finally quit this unhealthy & expensive habit!

Welcome! There are quite a few awesome companies in Canada that can serve you. I recommend wholeheartedly HAPPY VAPER. There is a subforum here for his customers. Also, Vapables, EVAPERS, electronic-cigz...all very good and reputable.

They aren't recommended...by me or many people on the forums. The 4081 equipment is a workhorse, but for most people, those models are quite outdated. I'd recommend trying it yourself, but you will probably want something with parts easier to replace.

You can get nicotine liquid in Canada, as Health Canada doesn't seem to be enforcing any rules they may have enacted. You can get excellent eliquid from Vapables.

4) I really dislike artificial flavors & am somewhat leery of this "liquid" sold with the e-cigs. Does anyone here make their own liquid, & if so, what ingredients are necessary?

Vapables has a couple which they produce themselves. However, taste is 100 percent subjective.

Yes, Happy Vaper sells this particular model!

While I am a bit further south, I can say that the service I have gotten from the proudly Canadian Happy Vaper has been excellent.

I was leery of the flavored liquid when I started looking at these devices. Now, I usually vape those flavors I thought were just weird. I have only one tobacco flavor that I still use, but I'm more likely to grab German Chocolate Cake. Completely different than what I thought I would do. I've even given most of my tobacco flavors away to new vapors that I have converted. Shrug, the things you'll learn.

Good luck and feel free to ask us any silly question because we had the same questions too.

Welcome and yes I second that motion on Happy Vaper. I've ordered from Jack 3 times now and he's the best. He will answer any questions you have either by phone or email and is very prompt at responding either way. I spoke with him on the phone before I even ordered. I have the 510 and am very happy with it. The last flavor I want to use is a tobacco flavor. I want to get away from tobacco, not carry it on with vaping.

Yes and here's one of the better versions - 6-7 hour battery life instead of 1.5-2 hours with the regular batteries and from a reliable Canadian Vendor:

Canadian E-cigarette Happy/Joye eGo Starter Kit - Black, Silver, White, Titanium

If you go this way make sure to use the coupon code at the top.

I'm not sure about how Canadians get their nic juice if they do but Jack at Happy Vapers has some really good, clean eliquids and I esp. like this one:

PV liquid 30ml RY4

... ah shoot, he's out of stock on it. See I told you it was good, eh? :)

Looks like you can stilll get it in the smaller 'sampler'... so try here:

PV liquid 3ml Sampler choice of 5

If you want to do a do-it-yourself way, get the VG base:

Vegetable Glycerine USP 99.5

99.5% pure is quite good and you can vape it by itself but you should first dilute it with about 20% distilled water - VG can be very viscous and would be a load on the atomizer if it's not diluted some. Some people use 151 vodka instead of distilled water and that won't get you drunk but will give you a bit more thoat hit....

And if you want you can add flavorings:

Canadian Source for Electronic Cigarette E Liquid DIY Concentrated Flavourings (LorAnn, Capella, FlavourArt)

That Capela's 'Vanilla Custard' is a favorite around here.

Wow, I'm just blown away by all these really helpful posts...what a fine welcome! You guys have saved me SO much time & probably kept me from ordering the first darn thing I could find.

I'm off to check out the Canadian vendors you've given me the links to now & after another day or two of reading here I think I'll be ready to place my first order. Thank you all so much & I'll be back to let you know how it went & with more questions, I'm sure!
