First, let me say WOO-FREAKIN'-HOO. At long last (though not really that long for an order from the UK to SoCal)! I ordered (after weeks of research) on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend (not that this would slow a UK company down), and it arrived almost exactly 2 weeks later. Had it not been here by tomorrow I would have tried my luck again with customer service (they must be swamped, because I've NEVER gotten through or gotten a response), but thankfully, no need.

I thought that I'd give a quick run down on my initial reactions.

1st, and this is something that probably every EVO user already knows, but it's a very nice touch, the EVO comes ready to use out of the box. The battery is pre-charged. Which, since I've already been antsy beyond pantsy, this was very welcome (and known in advance).

Initial Reaction: The packaging was not nearly to the standard that many (if not most) of the alternatives display, but I was not dismayed. It made it through customs, and a 30 year old single malt in an old glass milk jug would still be a 30 year old single malt, if you know what I mean. Would I have appreciated a nice case, an effective display? God knows, but it's what's inside that counts.

2nd, the card that came included demonstrating use instructions included a 'quick start' diagram that had me up and vaping in about 3 minutes. This is my first e-cig, and I'd been worried through reading endless discussion about maintenance, etc, that it would be a touch more complicated than I expected. It was not. Easy as 1-2-3.

As my wife and daughter-- both non-smokers (the young-un's only 5, so good thing there-- crowded around, I took my first drag. Not bad, and they could see it in my face. My daughter actually jumped around singing "your electronic cigarette is here, your electronic cigarette is here!" She has, as every dutiful child should, been after me to quit smoking since the moment she could talk. This she sees as a breakthrough.

I am a pack and a half to 2 pack a day smoker, and have exceed that threshold often in the 27 years since I started. I've now had the EVO for about 5 hours, a period in which I would have easily smoked 10 cigarettes on any normal day. These days, I smoke Marlboro Ultra Lights, and since the EVO arrived I've lit 3. The first of these, after puffing on the EVO, actually tasted weaker than the included cartridges. I got a BETTER throat hit from the e-cig than the actual cig. I say I've lit three; I've actually smoked one of these to completion, extinguishing the other two and going back inside.

All in all, I'd have to say that my intial reaction to both the EVO and to e-cigarettes is one that I can rave about. My 3 cents, and I'd thought I'd share them.

Shanty.

PS. Thank you to Terraphon for his advice/assistance and great vids. Thanks to IGetcha for his great video reviews and maintenance advice!

You know, as it happens I've already bought some ejuice... told you I was antsy for the thing to arrive!

I opted for Smokey Treats, and went with the full-on, high-strength Marlboro (2 bottles) and same in Camel (one). I ordered a bottle of Glycerin from an online pharmacy. Still waiting for all of these to arrive, and I'll happily post on my experience once I get to joyfully refill my first cart.

My next purchase (and they CAN get pricey, so I'm going to wait a little while and suck through some of what I have on order) will, I believe, be the high strength marlboro from Totally Wicked. Again, watched/read a lot of reviews in my last month of lurking! Thanks to all. I'm a new found believer!

Thank you, all. 8 hours in and I don't have enough good to say about it. I worry that my nicotine intake is quite a bit higher than it has been in years, but I just switched battery and cart for the first time today (7 hours on each, constant usage), and have convinced three relatives that there may be an option to smoking.

Signing off now, but look forward to my next post.

congrats and great choice.

I have a M401 and it is my go to e-cig out of the collection. My 401 and a fresh bottle of 555 (Evos, Pilots, 401s seem to be very true to the flavors)...

Anyhoo, 2 charged batts, a freshly cleaned atty on my 401 and a bottle of 555 and i'm in heaven.

You might want to try RY4 and 555 flavors. They are even better than the tobacco flavors IMO...

Coming from the Pen style, I received Evo today and it's nothing compared to pen. Vapor is about the same, but no throat hit even when dripping 555, I'm still trying to figure out if it's possible to get a throat hit, maybe with different juice?? The pen however is always quite a good throat hit with 555. Waiting for 510, hope that is beyond the pen for throat hit.

The Evo atomisers take 2 or 3 days to break in. Every time I try a new atomiser I think there's something wrong with it! - vapour and throat it are weak. After the break in period they're fine.

I think many people's initial disappointment with the M401 can be attribute3d to this issue.

I wouldn't worry *too* much about nic overdose via e-cigs. It seems at least *likely* you're absorbing much less than via analogs.

Even the latest Smoore instructions claimed their high carts give you ~ 1/6th intake vs an analog, and then there's this, which would seem to indicate somewhere between 1/2 at most, to 1/10th of intake vs analogs:
