Hey everyone--

I was so excited to get my new Royal Smoker 2.5ohm cartos today!! I followed the directions, put 1 mL of juice into them, did a 10 second dry burn, and they taste funky. Kind of a burnt taste. I have tried adding more juice, that did not help. Tried using the carto on a regular 808D1 batt instead of my wetbox, that didn't help either. What am I doing wrong????

It is because they don't wick very well. There are a couple of solutions but only modding them with PTB really helps. So many people complained about the funky tastes that Royal Smokers has now changed the manufacturing process. You should buy or make some syringe mods (see modder's forums). They are a great fix with PTB.

Skyway, I am having the same problem. I tried the PTB first, and it really didn't help at all. Then, I got the wild hair to try the syringe mod. Well, 5 cartos later, I still have not properly separated the connector from the metal tube. I either break the innerds or I cannot get the connector off. Uugh. Looks like I have 20 cartos that are essentially useless. I guess lesson learned. :-(

When you say "Royal Smokers has now changed the manufacturing process", when is "now"? Is there something newer than the revision 4 of the E2 cartos? I did a search but did not find anything newer than that. Is there a revision 5? Or a revision 4.1 or something?

I tried the R4 E2 but out of the 10 I bought, the first 3 tasted bad so I gave up. They were manufactured in August and September so if something has changed since then, maybe I will revisit them.
