I bought a used Grand LP/SL a few days ago and had every intention of keeping it. But, I was talking to my dad on the phone last night and he told me he wants to give up his pipe tobacco. He's 67 and smoked cigs until about 20 years ago - pipe ever since and has been stubborn about not quitting. I knew immediately that I was going give him the newly acquired Grand.

He's very, very smart and a hand's on kind of guy. He will have no problem building attys. I'm going to give him a couple of attys, a couple of spools of Kanthal, a Kuro coiling set, and a box of Koh Gen Do. I'd be amazed if he doesn't take to this like a duck to water. Heck, he'll probably be spinning up triple stapled Clapton coils in a couple of weeks, lol. He's a lot like me (or I'm a lot like him :) )... we both go all in on new ventures. This one may just add many years to his life.

Great news, and good on you for facilitating.

I've had 2 friends who smoked pipes switch to vaping - both made the complete switch within 2 days. They say it has pretty much all the triggers/comforts/habits of pipe smoking (more so than cigarettes), so I'm thinking the prognosis is good.

Congratulations to both of you! He doesn't have to completely give up his pipe love. You can pick up NET's that are extracted from many popular pipe blends. I have purchased a few to get pipe smokers started with vaping and they met with great success.
