My daughter is familiar with vaping as she had visited me in Florida about 6 weeks ago. She was thrilled to see that I was (for the first time in her life) not smoking. She found my obsession with e-cigs rather amusing ... but that's a different story.

Anyway, I flew into Indianapolis Tuesday evening and she picked me up at the airport in her first ever "new" car which she had owned for 3 days.

While loading my luggage in the trunk she looked at me and said very plainly ... you can't do that cigarette thing in my car. I started to defend and she cut me off saying she can smell it and does not want it in her car. Okay, fine ... I was not in the mood to argue the issue - just accepted her position.

As soon as we were in the car and leaving the airport, she asked if I was hungry to which I said yes, I do need to eat (we had about an hours travel time to get to my destination). Within 10 minutes of being in her car, she stopped at a fast food restaurant and headed right to the drive-up window.

And although I did not say anything, I found it very amusing that she had no problem ordering a smelly burger (to which she requested extra onions) to be eaten in her new car.

There is no way my Penstyle e-cig with Coffee flavor liquid had as much or as lingering an order as her burger. And I know, it's her car etc, etc. But I found it quite amusing ... on the inside.

Its too bad that some people still associate vaping with smoking. I believe its a placebo effect when it comes to the smell. People think when they see something that looks like smoke, then there should be a smell cuz something is burning. If there is an odor to the e-cig, then it's very, very, very, very, very, very, very......veryveryveryveryvery faint. Only a bloodhound could notice it. My mother is a casino dealer here in southern NJ and she knows exactly what smoke smells like cuz the casinos are still allowed to let people smoke. She never wants it in her home, around her, and damn sure not in her car. She doesn't mind me vaping at all around her. There's no offensive odor that she can pick up on.

Our smells, choices, activities are all OK. Anybody else' smells, choices, activities are not to be tollerated. Seems like the new American way of things.

That is so true these days.

I recently went to see my daughter. I didn't vape in front of 5 year granddaughter (she still doesn't know I smoked). I just don't want to be the one the might start her down the smoking road.
Anyway, when she wasn't around I vaped in the house and my daughter or son-in-law didn't say a word. It was sooooo nice not to have to go outside.

The gf always hated the ciggy smell. Now the way she hovers when I vape I feel like I'm a scented candle in a tv ad.

From a married man of 15 years, sorry I meant FOREVER!8-o Take it while you can, the opposite sucks. Be forever grateful that she's happy with you right now. DO NOT rock the boat! Happy Holidays and enjoy her happiness!

From one who know the horrors of an unhappy woman:rolleyes:

Wasn't a complaint, just my round a bout way of saying how much she enjoys the aroma.

Yeah, the association is especially bad with people who have never seen / smelt the thing in person. I

It still freaks me out when.. every once and a while .. someone leans in to smell my vapor cloud to see what it smells like.. Its gross. People, stay out of my vapor cloud!

Sorry for the rant..

You may consider it gross, but, if they can't smell anything, they can't complain either. They're actually doing your work for you (vaping must be better than smoking, I can't smell anything), whether they'll admit it or not is another thing. I'd say let them satisfy their own curiousity, word spreads and maybe they'll convert a smoker for you.;)

I don't blame her - some of the juices DO leave a smell behind. In my girlfriend's new car I stick to the flavors she likes the smell of, mostly fruity and vanilla-ish stuff. After watching her spend 5 minutes see-sawing back and forth to parallel park the car and not scrape the rims I was about ready to start throwing trash cans into the middle of the street. I'd say somebody not wanting vape smell in the new car is a *mild* OCD about a new car. Once the newness wears off maybe she won't be so hyper-protective. The set of 16 locking lug nuts arrives today. Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow?

And I know, it's her car etc, etc. But I found it quite amusing ... on the inside.

I'll just put this out there, knowing nothing of your or your family. Is it possible it's not so much about the vapor and more of a mother-daughter boundary thing? Just consider it ... for like half a second.

Don't get me wrong. I think it is absolutely a good thing because most people have had a positive reaction to the smell or lack thereof.

It just turns my stomach a little.

The vapor does smell a little and while it is not an unpleasant smell I have also had a few people also object to me smoking my e cig in the car.
