Sweet! I got some black nylon thumbscrews in today and they work great. They're a bit long so I sniped them with nail cotters. Ive found that the thumb screws we need are actually computer case screws! I'll post pics later. I have lots of polycarb tubing cut but I want to make some syringe tanks. I'm going by tractor supply tomorrow to see if the have the "ideal" brand. I found a great place to buy them online but going to check ts first. I can post links if anyone is interested when I get back to the computer.

Nice Willeb!! I love making things like this! I'm nixing the plugs... I've got two batches of 6-32 thumb screws on order right now. I have been having problems with all but one (the one that came on the mini sub) of my screws leaking in air as I vape. I've been using the white vinyl 6-32 screws from Lowes and they tend to let air in when I vape. The washers you put around your screws would fix that problem! .
I should have mentioned the white thumbscrew in my pic came from HomeDepot, they have various sizes. It too has a little silicone washer. The nice thing about the washer is you don't have to over tighten it.

I bought some 20cc Ideal Industries syringes from tractor supply today.. a box of 4 for $4. Here is the site that I found them for .55 each and free shipping.

The thumb screws I bought are off of ebay. 25 for $4.95 shipped. They (or the one I've used so far) work pretty good, like I said, they're a bit too long but that is easy to fix with nail clippers. I've found that the one I'm using, I do have to screw it in until it gets just tight.. if I screw it in all the way I can see air bubbles coming in from around the screw when I vape.. that means my carto will flood very soon.

The tank I bought from momandpopsvaporshop has the screw I'm looking for. It fits tight without being too tight and there hasn't been an air leaks from it yet. I've actually found it here, in the electronics dept.. but they are 10 for about $10 shipped..I haven't ordered any yet.. seems I've got a fortune tied up in thumb screws lol

I do have some more coming.. from ebay again. I have high hopes for these.. plus they're pretty!

I hate to just keep buying screws when I only use one tank at a time LOL

I found the ones I have been looking for. I've tried several nylon screws but they leak in air as I vape. I have one thumb screw that has been great, no leaks whatsoever and this looks just like it.

The ones I linked above do work but I've got to screw them in just right and vape in front of a mirror to see if they are letting in air. this ONE screw that came with my mini sub has been perfect. when I find something that is perfect, I tend to go overboard looking for more. I've found others but shipping was so high. These are 25 for $5.85 shipped. I can afford that.

I've got a fortune in thumb screws lol. Also I could drill the hole a bit smaller. I'm just tinkering around. This falls into the "hobby" catagory for sure. I will NOT buy any more thumb screws! I'll just drill the holes to fit the screws from now on. I like to make things like this and give them away to friends.

You guys tried the rubber from the syringes? Are they what gives off the bad rubber smell/taste?

Here's a guy (originator?) making cartotanks using syringe:Best way to cut down a tank? - Vapers Forum Post#7

I did find that the rubber plungers (I guess they're rubber) on the Ideal brand syringes gives off (to me) a horrible rubber, oily taste. I could not use them. I work at a hospital and have access to medical syringes. All the videos I've seen say not to use the syringes with the thin, flimsy plungers and mine have them.. I tried them anyway and they work great! No leaks or rubber taste or smell. Now these arent' the most stable tanks out there, they do slide around easily, I picked up my PV (out of my purse) by the tank and it slid right off, dumping all the juice in my purse. I know that when buying grommets to use on the polycarb tanks, everyone orders online to get vinyl instead of rubber. But with so many people using the Ideal Instruments brand syringes (found in tractor supply) I can't understand why no one other than me (and a few others) say that all they taste is rubber.

The black low-profile thumbscrews posted were not at auction (only blue & red...not my style) so I went with the next best thing that I could think of.

DUB573 Socket Cap Screws 6-32x1/8 (4)

$2 shipped, smaller profile than the thumbscrews, but still no tools required for removal/installation.

Anyone see a reason that the black oxide steel shouldnt be used near juice?

Step 1 - take a standard 5 ml drip bottle
Step 2 - drill hole in bottom, and cut off top
* make sure to leave enough of an edge for grommet.
* the amount of lip on the ends of the bottle determine the amount of holding pressure the tank has on the carto.
Step 3 - insert grommet on to the ends of the bottle.
Step 4 - slide new contraption over punched carto.
Step 5 - Vape juice of your choice, as you now have a tank that can handle any juice you throw at it...

No o-rings necessary, and no fiddling with grommet movement....

Now that you can slide the tank back and forth, there is no need for that ghastly wart of a grub screw....

takes less than 10 minutes with a reamer, and it is so easy even a caveman can do it!

Here's my bottle tanks. If the juice isn't wicking just give the bottle a squeeze. And I switched out a car to today in a full tank without loosing juice or making a mess.
