So i decided to go and make my own pipe. with a few issues it came out better than I thought. I need to use the rare earth magnets so that i can go and remove the battery. (wont charge) and after the center pin came out i used a small bolt to use as a center post. well here it is if anyone has any question i will try to answer them the best i can. ***side note i really know nothing about electronics.***

Not bad for your first go at one. You say it won't charge. Is there a specific reason? I have made a couple of what I call hard wired pipes and I just use a regular ego charger on them. You need to get an adapter, found at most vape shops, to get the charger to hook up, but that is no big deal. Adapter only cost a couple of dollars and most people already have an ego charger laying around. Keep up the good work and can't wait to see your next one.

FnMag that is the first pipe I built from scratch. I had made a couple of the conversions using the cheap Chinese pipes and they worked well. However they were the "hard wired" versions and I wanted one that I could change the battery when it went down. So I bought some wood and went to work. It uses an 18350 battery, has an ego switch and a 510 connector. The bowl is a dowel rod and so is the stem. I don't have any fancy tools like a lathe or anything so I have to make due with what I can. I have another one that I just finished. If I can find the time to take a few pictures of it I'll post them on here so you can see it. It is a little fancier looking and uses an Epipemods switch on top.

FnMag, why don't you just order the switch? That is what I did. Can't remember from where, but just order it. You will never be able to salvage one and get it to work right. I'll see if I can figure out from where I ordered mine and let you know.

Duckie, yes that is a pipe stem. It is from Missouri Meershaum. I cut off the end and then cut the end of an old cheap drip tip off and glued them to together. Works pretty darn good. I can even hold it in my mouth if I wanted to. Although I am always afraid it will drop and make me sad. They sell their stems cheap and you can make them work pretty easy. They have a nice bent style that all you have to do is sand down the end a little and it will friction fit into a carto very nicely. Makes for a fast and easy pipe stem. Just remember they aren't the high dollar style and are a little soft, but they work fine. For the price you can't beat them.

Nice work.
What are you using for the switch contact ring?

I've been looking everywhere local for a 7/8 key ring, and have come up empty. I'd order them, but I'm not convinced my idea of a7/8 key ring (7/8" actual OD) is what I'll get. It seems as though "Close enough to 7/8 means 7/8" and that's not what I want... I want a ring that will have a snug fit in a 7/8" hole.

So far I've been using a piece of copper pipe gut to 3/16", but it's a serious hassle to get a consistent and repeatable cut, and then get the pipe deburred.
