Built my first coils tonight.:) Both checking in at 1.5 ohms. Pretty amazing how much better the Unitank is with this.
The Igo-W has fantastic taste with clouds but It broke a leg under the screw when I went to 11 watts.:(

Not bad. just some friendly advise. Don't tighten down so much in the igo-w. I have cut a few coil legs that way myself. Also make sure you pulse your coils before wick them to make sure that they glow from the middle outward and the legs don't glow. It gets way easier after the first 15 feet of kanthal. Lol Have fun, don't get frustrated.

Second attempt. Running 2.9 ohms. My screwdriver is a little too big. Anyway, the flavor is still amazing and it can definitely choke me.
My juice is mixed 40/40 with 20 flavor 18mg nic. I'll have to cut back on the flavor a bit!

Edit: I didn't tighten the screws as much. Thanks Bender!

It looks like the coil is a bit closer to the center post than it is to the outer post. Try to keep the legs about the same length to avoid getting a "hot leg", which can overheat the juice on one side of the coil. You may be experiencing some harshness if the vapor is making you choke, so it may be a hot leg. Getting rid of it will smooth out the vapor, perhaps creating more vapor and even better flavor.

Otherwise that last picture looks like a good mini coil with the right amount of cotton :thumb:

That's a mighty fine lookin coil ya got there. Yeah CloudZ is right on about leg length. Its not quite as touchy with compressed coils but its a very good habit to have. What wire gauge and mod are you using? Also does your igo-w only have one airhole?

Well, I made a dual coil setup. I built two 2.9 ohm coils out of 30 gauge kanthal. Used cotton wicks nice and neat. Drilled one of the air holes out to 1/16th. Installed and the Evic is reading 1.4 ohms. Juiced them up and huge vapor. Pop on the cap and take a hit. Hardly anything at all. No atomizer detected. Fiddle around a little .8 ohms. Pull out one coil and notice a loose screw. Left it as a single 2.9 ohm and fired up. WOW! Best vape I ever had by far. No harshness and youtube worthy clouds of vapor. Running 5 volts @ 8.6 watts.
