congrats! I'm starting the beginning of week 4 of vaping and i'm still smoking 3-5 analogs a day (past two days was down to 3 in morning, but then I went to 4 this morning and i'm about to have one right now before I go to bed). Those morning ones are the hardest to give up for me (I've always been one of those 'pull myself out of bed and go straight to the desk to have a smoke' types of smokers). But anyway... this is about you, not me ;) Congrats again!!

No, it's about all of us!! Ya I know, these do not taste like cigs I know. This morning though when I vaped instead of having a cig first thing, it did work and give me my nic and good feeling and my coffee and I did alright. You just gotta DO IT. It's tough, I know! There is nothing that has ever come this close to giving us our physical and mental habit and enabling us to get off those chemicals. It's the closest thing ever. Nothing is going to be perfect, but this beats gum, patches, and anything else out there I've tried. I also have a bottle of Chantix here that I refuse to take and I'm so glad I found these instead.

Like so many others, I went from wanting a cigarette taste, and in switching more and more to vaping realising how truly horrible cigarettes actually taste!

It wont be everyones cup of tea, but i suggest a good first try is vanilla - real extract, not the artificial one - it has a warm mellow taste, something like one imagined/hoped that a really good cigarette would taste :) So much nicer than tar and ashtray!

To see if you would like this, go to the grocery store, baking section, and get Glycerine and Vanilla extract (in water/alcohol) - about $2 total. In a small container mix 80% glycerine with 20% extract. Shake or stir. Try ... If you like it, you can then get a nictine-included bottle online - or a double-strength, flavourless nicotine juice to mix 50/50 with the mix you first tried (VG + extract).

These stories are inspiring. I can't wait to get started. I ordered my first e-cig on Saturday, and I am hoping it arrives next week.

18 years of a pack a day, and I have never tried to quit or even cut down. I am hoping to go from 25+ smokes, down to around 3 or 5 a day at first. I am the type of smoker that has my certain brand, and will not change unless I have to. Light cigarettes just don't do it for me in the morning, or after a good meal. I realize it won't be what I am used to, but I can't wait to see how well these things work. I am going to try to stick to it, and hopefully eventually ween myself off of the tobacco. Good luck everyone!

Hi Rawd,

I think you have the right idea for you ... i think you will change over gradually, and that's all well and good. I'm writing because i had an idea while reading your post. You misght consider getting a disposable cigar for those after dinner moments. For that occasional rich tobacco taste it is apprently very good; I think RuYuan is one of those often mentioned. Haven't tried it yet myself, but would like to get one ...

Congrats and welcome to the club. I'm not too far ahead of you in the quit time, as you can see from my ticker below. Every word you typed, I can say "ditto" to verbatim. I was a pack a day smoker for 20 years. I have said for years, "I wish they could make something that would mimick smoking, without all of the harsh chemicals". I looked and looked and finally found e-cigs. I cannot even begin to say how much these have helped. I have tried everything in the past to no avail........You have my support.

UKUsa, thank you for the banner info.
Maybe by Saturday I'll have my new e-cig working and I can put that on my posts.

You can put your predicted start day even if its several days before your actual date and it will still count down.. I did that with my TAKE 2 banner and it helped me look forward to my quit day..

I've been totally smokeless for 3 weeks and 3 days! Never felt better!

Oh my congratulations that's awesome! I can't wait to say that too! So far so good today! The things I DON'T miss from analogs are the smell, the nasty mouth taste, the hiding, the mess. I feel a little more free! And I'm also not sucking on this e ciggy all day long either. I puff on it when I mentally feel like it. I definitely know every time I puff on it it isn't physical. That's what's so hard about quitting smoking, so much mental is involved!!!

I tried it all and this is the only thing that ever worked for me.

Congrats to you also Simba! I know, it's still not 100% easy, but my gosh, compared to anything else, this is a cake walk. It's just the best of both worlds. It's almost too good to be true and I'm so scared the FDA is going to take this away from us! WHY DO THEY APPROVE 4,000 CHEMICALS THAT ARE KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER IN ANALOGS?????????? It's all about $$$$

CONGRATULATIONS Lucky!!! You are inspiring me also. I'm down to 1 pack left of analogs and only smoking a few a day. After reading your post I just might not open that last pack. Congrats to all of you who have quit the "stinkies" as Kate calls them. I've smoked 2+ packs a day for 36 years and ,like others have said, this is the closest I've come to quitting. This forum helps so much with all the advice and support.

I know, I know, I know it's hard, but you just gotta DITCH the dang things. Trying to use those as a crutch still is not good IMO and you are forming a new habit of doing both. I'm physically doing just fine without them. Yes, my mind thinks of them, but I haven't touched one. I was even around 2 other smokers yesterday and I puffed on my thingy and they smoked away and honestly their smoke STUNK to me. So I just keep thinking of the icky stink and it nauseates my stomach. You have to think of WHY you got one of these in the first place!
