wow congrats! I just started recently too but haven't had the cajones to give up analogs completely yet....hopefully soon I can do it the way you did....keep it up!

Oh man do you think I wanted to? You just HAVE to make your MIND up and DO it. I HAVE to quit smoking. You just have to take your head and mentally know smoking 4K chemicals in ciggs is NOT good for you and if we do not quit, we could die! That's the only thing I keep saying to myself to keep me going! It is working. Just think the bad icky stuff about ciggys and puff your e. JUST DO IT!

I smoked my last analog at 8:30 p.m. last night. I went to bed at 12:00 a.m. and I felt completely satisfied during that 3 1/2 hour period just puffing on my e-cig....but my intent wasn't to 'quit' at that moment.

I typically smoke my first cig within 10 minutes of waking, but this morning I changed my routine and did the dishes instead. I was just trying to 'challenge' myself to see if I could make it without my first analog of the day until after the kiddos were off to school. And now here it is, 4:15 p.m. ~ almost 20 hours later and I still haven't had an analog :)

However, I have pretty much thought about the analogs the entire day and there were a couple of times during the day that I just wanted to say 'screw it' because I really, really wanted one. Anyone else get fixated on the thought of the analog at certain times of the day?

Thanks and BIG CONGRATS to all that are well on their way to a analog free life!

I'm sure everyone has certain times of day that were usual analog times. I certainly did. Especially when I was in the car at certain spots to and from work. The easiest way to beat that is not to have any analogs in the house. When I ran out I promised myself not to buy any more and I havn't.

4myhealth - take it one minute at time, one hour at a time, one day at a time. Getting through the first day is a milestone.
And yes i had them thoughts, for quite a while. But it seemed everyday they got less. I do believe that it is from not getting some of the other chemicals that are in analogs that are not in eliquid.
It does take a little reprogramming, changing the way and when you do some things. It takes some conscious effort too. After all, you are trying to change a 10,20,30 year way of life.

I'm really interested to see how Lucky is when she comes back from her drive. Something tells me she is enjoying it..

Additon - After just a few days of quitting the analogs i was at a high school basketball game. Previously i would always go outside between games for a smoke. This time i was inside in the warm. One of the people i used to be outside with came back in after her smoke. She was sitting 4 rows down in the bleachers - i could smell that cigarette smell from 4 rows away and it wasn't good. Then i thought hmmm i guess i used to smell like that too.

My last analog was yesterday about 9am I believe. Lucky's story really inspired me. Today I got up at 5:45am, thanks to a mini Schnauzer that thought my face needed licking, and I went right to the ecig instead of my analogs. I still have a pack that I have not opened. This is a big deal for me. So Lucky, I'm with ya!!

This is my first morning in 20 years without a smoke. It sucks. Last one was at 5:00 yesterday, so Its been about 16 hours.

I am sitting here sucking on a 4mg nicotine losenge, and smoking on my epuffer, and they are definately helping, but I still really want a smoke. I know I am getting my nicotine, so this HAS to be in my head, but it feels physical. I hate this lack of control. I hope I make it the day.

Even if I do quit analogs, I don't want to have to go through this every morning and day. Hopefully it gets easier in a few days. I am going to go swimming to try to get it out of my head.

Rawd my friend......Although I wish you luck on quitting analogs...Perhaps a gradual decrease in them will help your cause...instead of going "Cold Turkey". A combination of both might better your cause at the present time. There are members who still use both analogs and e-cigs...but have found thier analog use on the decline..Good Luck in your endeavour..:)The Wiz!

Ditto. One of the hardest things about quitting tobacco is the dread . . . the thought of NEVER smoking again.

For me, I didn't really intend to quit tobacco--just cut down. Almost immediately, I was down from 2+ packs a day to one or two analogs with really no effort. At that point, I figured, what the heck and simply chose not to smoke.

Twice since I weakened and actually lit up an analog. Both times, I put it out after a few puffs. Just tasted beyond nasty.

There are still times when I think I want an analog, and it's hard not to fixate on the thought. Times like that, I spike my e-cig with high nicotine and vape through it. If the thought is still there, I simply get up and move around--do something different. Those times are becoming increasingly less frequent, probably because I think back to how nasty those last two attempts at an analog were.

But in any event, I agree that while some people find it easy to give up tobacco almost immediately upon starting in with e-cigs, some find it more difficult. Instead of focusing on completely quitting tobacco, perhaps baby steps might work better . . . focus on the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment you feel simply by cutting down on your analog habit. When I started vaping, I would have been thrilled to cut back to 1 pack a day. :)

Thanks for the comments everyone! I went for a swim, and now my urge seems to have decreased quite a bit. I was going through hell when I wrote my last post.

I got my e-cig on Friday and I used it all weekend, along with 20 analogs. I normally smoke about 30 analogs a day, so to drop to 7 per day was quite a feat for me.

I have never quit, or even tried to quit smoking in 20 years. This is my first (hopefully last) attempt.

I decided to try to get rid of the analogs completely after reading this thread. I also want to see what I am capable of, and bask in the glory of every hour free of tobacco. :)

After reading this site, and some other quit smoking sites, I have decided that I want to be nicotine free. At first, I had planned on using my e-cig as an alternative to smoking, but now I plan to use it to help me quit nicotine completely.

So my plan for right now, is to stick to nic losenges, and my epuffer, and slowly ween myself of of them as well.

If only I had a time machine, and I could go and beat the crap out of myself when I lit up that first smoke. :)

Thanks again everyone, words of encouragement really help!

BTW: What the heck is an irish waterfall?

Hello Everyone!

New here so I figured I would stop by and share. I've been smoking analogs for 20 years. Changed brands often, though I've been smoking Basic Lights for the last 10 years, roughly a pack a day..

So I was all excited last week ordering my first e-cig from SmokeStik.com. It arrived over the weekend and I was so happy it came. After charging, I started with the highest cartridge in my kit.

I originally thought I would just use the SmokeStik from now on and cut out analogs all together, but I found that to be very difficult.

The day it arrived we had some friends over, (my wife smokes too) and we were all out on the porch, kicking back some beers and talking. For me, smokes and beer is like bacon and eggs, so it was difficult at first watching everyone light up, over and over and over..

But I kept using my SmokeStik has I needed, taking puffs here and there throughout the night. I managed to go 24 hours without using an analog, and why this happened, I believe is the taste. I'm just not getting the same taste from the SmokeStick, that I get from the analog, which I assume is the hardest thing to overcome when first starting out.

So basically now I'm trying to use the SmokeStick during my favorite times for wanting a smoke, which for me is with Coffee, first thing in the morning, after meals, and while driving. I plan on only using analogs to fill in the gaps throughout the day, or perhaps some type of rotation until I can finally say adios to the analogs.

Does anyone know if there are any other flavored cartridges I can use with the SmokeStik brand?

I got my first e-cig in the mail on Saturday and I loved it immediately! I was almost through with the pack of analogs I had open and there's an unopened pack in my glove compartment. (I think it's going to stay unopened!)

I have smoked a couple of the analogs, but they already taste pretty bad. My main problem is that the carts that came with my e-cig are 16 and 24 mg. I really only need 11 mg at the most, and I'm paranoid about getting too much nicotine. 8-o I've smoked when I wanted more than just a couple of puffs at a time. I still have 4 left in the open pack, and I have liquids on the way. I'm pretty sure that when I have a low enough juice in the cart to be able to vape as much as I want, I'll be able to leave the tobacco alone.

:wub:I LOVE these things - it's the only way to go! Congrats to us all for any reduction of the chemical intake (and no longer giving money to the producers)!
