New to vaping and all the DIY and a long time lurker :)

I've been using a Innokin iTazte MVP 2.0 w/ iClear 30 tanks and it worked real well for me. I then found this site and it opened up my eyes to the world of DIY.. and now im hooked.
After a few days of reading and spending the better part of 2-days watching UTube vids of rebuildables, etc I had to venture in.
I didn't want to spend tons of money on my first DIY, so I opted to purchase clones, just to see if I could do this and like it.

I purchased a Kayfun Lite+ clone, Nemesis Mod clone, (2) 18650 batt (forgot the name) w/ charger and Kenthal .28 guage wire.

I then got home and started charging batteries and making my first coil. I thought for sure my 1st coil would look like something out of a 3rd graders science project but, to my surprise, I did pretty darn well. I took the advice of a fellow vaper (in the shop while waiting to be helped) and did a 8/9 wrap around a 3/23 drill bit and she looked pretty darn good. I was impressed, not the best looking but, it worked.
I tested her out and she was reading 1.6ohm, which I thought was pretty darn good for my first attempt.
I then followed all the DIY steps and used a cotton wick, then tester her out... WOW.. Im blown away.. She vaps real well and the taste is out of this world. I cant believe the difference.

For my 1st time I think I did pretty darn well and I know I could probably do better and learn more to fine tune it but, nevertheless Im impressed.
Im now looking to get a new Mod, probably a Innokin iTaste SVD vv/vw probably pick up another Kayfun Lite+ but friend of mine said to snag a Russian 91%..

Anyways, great site, and tons of info here that helped me learn a ton. Im sure this will NOT be my only DIY.. Im hooked. !

Thank you..
Im not 100% if my resistance is what its saposed to be on my mod, as im going by what this shop had told me, that and UTube vids..
I mean after 2 days of watching coil rebuilds and whatnot it gets a little blurry as to what to shoot for but, I think im on my way to building
much better devices and Im enjoying the one I just built.. I cant believe the taste diff from these iClear 30's..
Don't get me wrong I like the iClears, but no comparison whatsoever.

I found an online vendor for Russian 91's and Kayfun's, clones of course... Sites called FastTech, but being new to all this im not sure if they are reputable and their product is worth spending $$
I drive a truck for a living and im heading out tonight for another 8 weeks, so Ill have plenty of time to research and read, watch DIY vids..

Cant say enough how this place helped me and how friendly you all are.. +1 site..

The resistance of your coils depends more on the battery you are using than the mod itself. You should always buy authentic IMR batteries from reputable venders. Hopefully, someone will come along to give suggestions on what to buy and where to buy them. I keep seeing Sony VTC4 and VTC5 recommended on here and there are some Panasonic and Efest also.

Fastech is well known in this forum. They are a Chinese company so shipping can take several weeks or more depending on many factors.

to ecf Zuki and the wonderful world of mixing too. DIY is pretty much as addictive as nicotine for me. Saving money is wonderful but I have just been happier with the stuff I have made. If you do a lot of experimenting, I find that the igo-L is wonderful to have around for tasting flavors. Very easy to build yourself or you can can pre-made coils from Fasttech that are fine and very affordable. I just think it is nice to have something I can add a few drops to and taste than worry about filling up an atomizer. Just what I do. I have also found that I prefer the Vaping Zone gourmet and super concentrated flavors because you use such a little amount in a recipe. I feel like this is a bit more economical. There are bunches of great threads on ecf that can help you and some wonderful people. Good luck to you and happy mixing. :)

Thank you.. :)
The thought crossed my mind doing DIY eJuices but, being im on the road a lot, its just not doable at this time. So.. im pretty much stuck buying from brick n' mortar shops along the road.
Right now I have (5) 30ml bottles of my fav juices to take with me. Not sure if that's overkill or not enough. I know depends of my vaping, but that's a test to come this week, as Im going
back out for 8 weeks, the 1st time with no analogs.. fingers X'd...

The resistance of your coils depends more on the battery you are using than the mod itself.

Be careful how this is worded. The resistance of your coil depends on only one thing... the resistance of your coil. If you build it at 1.2Ω, it is always going to be 1.2Ω regardless of what you put it on. This is where knowledge of ohm's law and battery safety comes into play. If you are using a regulated device, you are pretty much covered because not many will fire below 1Ω and they won't fire if there is a short. If you are using an unregulated mech mod, please do some research. Regardless of what you are using, if you are building your own coils, please buy an ohm meter and/or a multimeter.

Here is a great place to start!

You are correct, it was worded incorrectly. What I should have said was "The resistance of the coils you use". That's what I meant to say.

:toast: I knew exactly what you meant, but I also knew that someone just getting into these might take it as thinking the resistance would change depending on the battery.
