Looks like you need to keep whatever you're wrapping your coils with inside the coils while tightening contacts. You could go back with that tool to straighten them out. I use my fluke leads. Pretty much 2mm.. and I always have at least two of them.
If you want a compressed coil, get some pliers and crimp after heating them up red hot a few times..after you fix the warp. You might get plenty of throat hit with the spacing though.. which looks pretty perfectly spaced.
I like to use les cotton, and I love the way it looks fluffed up, but I've found it wicks better somewhat rolled up.
I would also have longer legs to be closer to airflow..all my preferences though..
