My First Experiences (Joye 510) are Bitter-sweet, But Promising!

I ordered the Joye 510 starter kit as well as a 10ml bottle of the RY4 juice. Started working out great, loved the taste & didn't smoke an analog for about a week. Then it started becoming difficult for me to get good puffs off of the vaper. I tried all combinations of mouthpieces, atty's & batteries (& recharged both batteries to make sure I had plenty of juice in them). This led me to believe that there was a problem with both of my atomizers. One of them I could only get very small (essentially useless) puffs off of. When I took the mouthpiece off, it sizzled but it didn't ever burn to an orange color. The other atty would smoke fine for a minute, then it seemed to have an awful taste to it (I am told this can happen with the primer when you first use an atty, but I had been using it for a few days). That one would burn off smoke and also would heat to an orange color.

I did some research and found the atty resurrection method found under "Tips and Tricks" section of the forum (OP highping), but at this point I didn't want to burn out my batteries and didn't have a passthrough or anything. I resorted back to smoking analogs for about two weeks whilst waiting for my next paycheck and then delivery time :/

Got my new atty's in today and am now puffin' like a champion again I ordered four of 'em this time and hopefully they will each last longer. With my next purchase I will be looking into some type of higher voltage battery/passthrough (haven't really done my research on these yet but I will when the time comes) to work on resurrecting my dead atty's.

In the meantime, does anyone know what my attys' symptoms that I described early are indicative of? Any suggestions for lengthening atty life in the future?

Don't ever vape the polly overly dry...
Keep them moist, top off carts often.

I got sick of that (atty issues) so I am trying out KR808D-1 cartos now using a 901 adapter for my 510 big batt mods.

So far so good. The 901 and 510 sets lasted me for about 6 months, then I got sick of battery swapping issues, so I went w/big batt mods.

I switched to pyramid tea bag material (nylon). The batteries are a problem in my 510s but I have a lot of them so I don't run out.

That nylon fixed most of my issues.

About those two atomizers; One turns orange, the other doesn't. One produces vapor, the other doesn't......well, the one that doesn't heat up (turn dull orange) is useless. Put it in a small cup of alcohol (half an inch deep) and swish it around and around for ten minues. Take it out, blow it out--hard, and flood it with juice. If it still doesn't heat up and produce vapor--toss it.

Some people say to figure atties as disposible, others say to work on them until you bring the back from the dead. oldtechno says--get a bunch of 510 starter kits, use all the batteries, put half of the atomizers back to use as replacements. You want at least five e-cigs being used (I have ten). You only take four or five drags off each one then pick up another--this keeps them from burning out.

My newest one is four months old, my oldest is six months old--it seems to work fine that way.

Finally; I noticed you said you were waiting for that 'paycheck'. I know all about such things. Us the equipment you got to keep you going...save you money up (several hundred dollars worth), and five or ten of those kits. A protoge' or little chuck are a must.

bottom line; Use those atties until they no longer work, then clean them. If they don't start working ... toss them.

Welcome, and I have a Ego for about two months, and use the same attys as your 510...It wasn't till I read a thread on the Ego Social portion of this forum that I found a way to clean my attys,,,that is easy,,,,not much time,,,,and it worked for 4 out of my 6 attys that I was ready to toss in the garbage...Go to the Ego social site here and check it out...Hopefully, this will also work for you...Again, Welcome....

I'm assuming that you're using a tobacco juice..(just looked back and yup RY4)...
Tobacco juices are heavy with particulate matter and they often gunk up an atty faster as do darker juices..
follow highping's method even though you don't have a pt or anything high volt...just blow out the water as best you can and do that dry burn to clean the crud off the atty coil...
That should bring those two back to good working condition again... and with the tobacco flavors blow em out and do a good dry burn fairly frequently..about once a week..

Yeah, I actually tried the pyramid teabag method before I got my new atty's in and it didn't help. I'm assuming it just helps the atty's last longer, but if they're already done there's probably no difference.

When you say "flood it with juice" do you mean pour a bunch of my vapor juice in it? That seems like a waste of good, hard-earned juice if it is in fact a dead atty!

And what is a Protege' and Little Chuck?

I do regular maintenance cleaning on my attys. Once a week or so I'll soak them in hot water, rinse and blow them out, let em dry overnight or a day or two.

They usually use standard attys and carts but have "enhanced" battery capacity for blissful All Day (or a good few hours at leas) Vaping. The eGo was my 3rd try at finding a PV that was right for me.....and it fits the bill nicely.

Cleaning old liquid out of your atty every now and again is part of the battle, but its the "dry burn" afterward that seems to return it to near new function. Just try not to hold that button for too long or you run the risk of frying it for good .
Using fresh or cleaned fibres in your cart can help when you strike those persistent "off" tastes too.

Sweet. I think I'll just get a couple extra starter kits so I have a few extra batteries to do that with. Or would you recommend buying a higher voltage power source for that? I wouldn't know what to buy, but I plan to be in this for the long haul so whatever is the most efficient way of doing it I'd be willing to invest in.

At this point, I'm not so much worried about the battery life (I bought a charging case for my standard bats and don't mind switching 'em out every now and then) as finding a way to keep my atty's working! Two atty's lasting me just shy of a week is unacceptable! Part of that may have been user error though. I suppose I will start soaking my atty's and heating 'em as weekly maintenance. Could I be smoking it wrong? Too much or too little juice or holding it at a wrong angle? My friend at work said something about atty's getting flooded and it would sound like a gurgling noise instead of a crackle noise like the proper vaping. I haven't heard anything I would describe as gurgling to my knowledge...

I also recommend the Highping method to dry burn those dead atty's, at this point if they're not working you have nothing to lose. I do recommend ordering a usb passthrough, it's great for using at the pc and it's also great for doing the dry burns without draining your battery. I think it's a great idea to have extra atty's and batt's around, I did the same thing after I lost my 1st 3 atty's. I still have them though and when the 6 extra's I have start to diminish I plan on trying to resurrect them too. Good Luck!

I was thinking it sounded as if your attys were flooded (maybe gunked up too). Are your batts manual or auto? If manual, do the Highping method: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html. You can't really do a dry burn with auto batts (can you?). I've never tried a dry burn with stock manual batts, but it works well with my Screwdriver 3.7v. Good Luck!
