Hi all I tried my first micro coil roughly 10 wraps with 28g kanthal and ekowool came in at 3omhs on my protank but this is chucking out more vapour and flavour than a 1.8 omh coil is this normal? I am new to this

Normal indeed.

So many factors come into play. It's not 'just' the coils. It's all about balance for the system (wicking, coils, and AIR FLOW).

Bringing in more air to ANY atty can make it produce billowy clouds of pretty white vapor.

The most important thing of all is simply getting the right 'balance' for your taste.

I find I can usually get as good of a vape from a simple 4 or 5 wind 33 or 34 AWG coil using nothing but my fingers for tools, as I can from a 28 AWG one I spent an hour perfecting by simply getting the wick and air flow right.

Thanks guys im loving the flavour and there is a cloud of vapour hanging around the house always a good sign :) i have bumped it up to 12vlts and its litterally chucking out flavour and vapour no burnt taste and no dry hits im using vampires kiss which is a red blood like liquid 70vg 30pg yummy stuff its strawberry raspberry and menthol

Umm, what exactly are you using that produces 12 volts?? Did you by chance mean 12 watts? or are you like stacking 4 350's?

The RSST... i don't have it. But as far as I have read it is a good Genesis-type atomizer.
However... Genesis-atomizers are tricky to set up in comparison to other types of RBAs.
So i wouldn't recommend one for first RBA. Either a dripper or a Kayfun-style one (there's also *cough* clones).
They are easy... Easier than a protank. So you already got that down :)

I have an RSST and it is a wonderful device for checking out building inexpensively. Want to grab a Russian 91% though, maybe this paycheck. I use cotton for wicks. Much easier than SS mesh and works great. Cheap too. Going to get some silica though, still need to try that. I like assisted dripping, as regular dripping is a pain in the rear. Good luck, be safe and have fun!

Uummmm, I think either your diameter of the coil is too large, or you may have used the wrong gauge. 10 wraps of 28 awg kanthal shouldn't give you 3 ohms if it's a microcoil.

But, as long as it works for you, vape on!

It could be the coils arent touching or it could be that im using 32awg kanthal i could have swore i wrapped 28awg eitherways im very happy with the finished product suberb flavour vapour th :))

10 wraps of 32 around a 2mm or so diameter bit would give you 3 ohms. That sound more realistic. ;)
