My first mod - 5volt box

Thanks to the all the generous folks around here, I was able to make myself a 5volt box mod..

Thanks to nicowolf, Burnie, cybervex, warp, mnealtx, h8, DaMulta, sorry if I left anyone out.


Thanks to DaMulta discovering the 1/4" phono jack that fits the 801 atomizer, and the RCA plug, I was able to make my own connector..
I cut a screwdriver slot in the RCA pin, and drilled a very small hole down through the insulator for air.

It's a steam machine! ..

Can i get a part# for the resistor/regulator you used to drop the voltage down to 5v?
I'm looking to do the exact same thing but with a 901 atty.

Texas Instruments part# UCC383TDKTTT-5G3. You have to open an account and jump through some hoops, but you can get a pack of 5 free samples and free FedEx overnight delivery. I didn't want to push my luck so I went with the 2 day

Batteries in series, red wire from the pos batt terminal to one side of switch, red wire from other side of switch to right side leg of regulator (looking at pic), red wire from left side leg of regulator to atty center pin. Black wire from neg batt terminal to center leg of regulator, another black wire pigtailed to center leg of regulator to atty outer rim.

I got the battery box on line, but you can buy similar from radio shack.

The box mod in the picture no longer exists, I tore it apart and used the parts to build the same thing but used a 3xAA box, moving the atty connection to the end of the box. This time I didn't glue the regulator in, and the switch is only tacked in with hot glue.
