I will be curious to know how many atomizers you fry per month at 6v. My Prodigy has fried 3 of my 510 atomizers running only 5 volts. I'm switching to 3.7. Atomizers are too precious to waste.

Kevin

I got the original to my mod on 8-28. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/34724-amazing-multi-volt-1-kind-pv.html Since I've been vaping at 6+ and 5 volt I have only lost 1 atty- and this was not from regular use.. I accidently forgot to lock out the power with the end cap, I put the unit in my pocket and accidently held on the power- dumb mistake.

Now I allways turn off all power - by pushing lockout button (easy) and I haven't lost any attomizers.

If you know what your doing and never let it get too dry and hot volt shouldn't burn out you atty's

I will never go back to 3.6 volt vaping.

5 volts is the perfect sweetspot for most juices
6+ Volts is perfect for Nhaler High Volt Juice- which I love

IMO- 510 atty's can handle 6 volt just fine and 5 volt no problem (if you know how to use it)
Check you Prodigy and see if it really is delivering 5volt or if it's more?

I agree that 5v is really great for flavor on some of the juices. I have some 18650's comming in and I want to try it at 3.7v to see how it performs. I will always have the option to go back to 5v.

Kevin
Let me know which way you go with them. I've had 2 collecting dust for a few weeks for lack of a proper case. I think I may go with an Ergolump type thing with the dual voltage integrated...I'm sick of seeing these nice, big, fat, plump, juicy batts staring at me.

JBWeld is an epoxy :p. I'm not sure how you're using solder to hold the pcb/spring in place, nothing but epoxy would work for me *shrug*.
I agree Epoxy is best to hold the board in place. I usually put some extra solder at the edges of the board and let it stick out a little bit. then when you push the board in it is tight on the sides and you get a much better contact for the ground.

Hey that what I did too he just said it better- I put a big blob on 2-3 sides - I wasn't sure which would come in contact............so I used a couple extra

roll of solder 6$
Soldering Iron 38$
510 battery connectors 42$

the happiness you feel vaping at 5 and 6+ volts with slight burns on both hands, one the exact shape of your new soldering iron tip- priceless!

Ha! Those burns ARE kinda sweet when vaping a hand made by YOU machine, huh? My mods have been simple-sd clone, box mod, flashlight mod....My only prob is I dont have any way to drill thu the sides like where these buttons are on the detonator....what are you using, if you dont mind me asking? I never solddered in my life until I starting modding, lol. Now Im a champ...;)

I have limited tools as well, right now I only have a cheapie small metal clamp with a plastic end so it doesnt marr the finish...any pointers on that? Im willing to buy better tools, but being a girl in the catering industry-I def need names so I can find them haha!

NICE MOD BTW---Ive been seeing it for a while now and the improvements look FANTASTIC!!!! (colors, jbweld, etc)

Sorry if I'm a little off topic here.
I was watching my local tv channel Sunday night and seen a commercial for the EZSmoker. This is the first commercial that I've seen on tv for an e-cig. I was wondering why don't other e-cig companies advertise on tv? If it's legal?
This would really get the word out about them.
I can"t post a link but if you google search EZSmoker, you'll find they're site. The video on there is what was on their commercial.

I used my Dad's drill press- I think I could do it with a regular drill, but I would need to make something to hold the round tube for drilling.

No, they are a rip off. "The e-cig is free to try with your first order of cartridges" ? $29.95 is 50% off a normal months worth of carts. Also their carts have zero nic, that's why they are probably not on the radar screen.

I hope they don't rip too many people off.

Hi Robert,

So is that a torch? It looks mean and awesome!! I think I spotted a bunch of those torches for sale at CVS, $9.99. Did this setup involve having to have a workshop with welding and milling equiptment? I want to make one of those detonators, but will be limited to solder, gluegun, Epoxy and a lot of inexperience.

Get yourself a drill motor and some bits, and you can do it. The first may not be the prettiest thing, but it will be yours and the more you do it the better you will get..
1 tip: Wrap the thing in tape while working on it and it will prevent it from getting scratched or having a bunch of epoxy and crap on it when you are done with it.
Also be patient, get a multimeter and check each connection as you go, and you wont be tearing it apart when your done..

Press was the way to go. Hand drilling is a royal pain in the ......the bit walks all over the place.

Had originally planned on making 4 "Magnums". Would up with one corre...well usably drilled.

Think I may invest in a press for my Dremel.

Try starting with a small ..... punch,. Then a really small bit as a pilot hole. It wont walk with the tiny bit, but does go through the aluminum like butter.
Then your bigger bits will follow the pilot hole. Yea, its gonna walk if you try to start out with a big ole' bit first thing.

Drill a pilot hole real small and save yourself alot of headaches..

Thanks, for the tips! I have a cordless 9.6v drill and a bunch of bits. I am thing about connecting up my atty to the drill battery 9.6v!! LOL Only joking.

But I may pop down home depot tomorrow and pickup a corded drill.

I am waiting impatiently for a few more bits to arrive, soldier iron, multimeter (Never used one before, LOL), a small vice, Ultrfire charger and then I am good to go. Can't wait to get started. Got all the bits for a nicostick first, then venture into the 'magnum' as it looks so damn cool.

I also have a bunch of recomended 5v regulators from TI, but no idea what I have to do with them yet. I guess they regulate 2x3.7v AA to a steady 5V output? I'll start simple, 3.7 nicostick, then branch into the 5V mods when I read up some more.

Thanks again!

You should really have a multimeter. Radioshack has some good but cheap models.

17-Range Analog Multimeter - RadioShack.com

You need this to evaluate the atomizers prior to putting them on your PV.

Kevin

I don't want what they have!- My PV has something much better- An Inline Voltage Regulator- It pulses on / off 32 times a second- You can put 6-9.45 volt through it and it turns it to 5.01 volt Also, here is the best thing it will not allow CR2 batteries to discharge below 2.5 volt so they have much much less chance ( if any ) of exploding due to rapid discharge.

Thanks man! Glad I can back to take another look at this thread cuz I missed your reply. Was just thinking of doing another Magnum too.
